SitcomsOnline Digest: Disney+ Offers New Simpsons Streaming Channel; Final Eight Unaired Episodes of Joey on YouTube
Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! This week, we are hearing about a new streaming channel for an animated favorite, more about a media merger, and more. Let's get going!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
- Disney+ is now offering a streaming channel featuring (almost) every episode of The Simpsons, though "Stark Raving Dad" (aka the Michael Jackson episode) is still missing. (ScreenRant)
- In today's journey in "media mergers gone mad," we're learning that Paramount, Netflix, and Comcast have all expressed an interest in acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery. (Hollywood Reporter)
- If you want to see the final eight episodes of the Friends spinoff Joey, which surprisingly never made it to even DVD (at least not in the US) despite airing in the prime era of TV on DVD, they are finally available for the first time ever on the official Friends YouTube channel. (Deadline)
- We're learning who'll host the final three episodes of Saturday Night Live for 2025, and one of them has the musical guest Cher (though it is disappointing that they couldn't have gotten her for the weekend that Daylight Saving Time ended so that she could sing her iconic "If I Could Turn Back Time" just before 1 AM). (Hollywood Reporter)
- HBO has renewed a pair of comedy series. (SitcomsOnline)
- As we previously mentioned, the entire series of Joey is available to stream on YouTube, and you can also catch the new channel for The Simpsons on Disney+.
- There is a Catchy Binge of Everybody Loves Raymond on Catchy Comedy tomorrow.
- That, of course, leads into Monday night's Everybody Loves Raymond: 30th Anniversary Reunion, that will air on CBS.
- Antenna TV has a Wings marathon that starts Wednesday and goes all weekend long.
- Like a kid torn between parents for a custody battle, Family Guy (which normally airs on Fox) has a new special, "Disney's Hulu's Family Guy's Hallmark Channel's Lifetime's Familiar Holiday Movie," which will debut Friday on Hulu.
- The final season of Bel-Air arrives Monday on Peacock.
- A new season of It's Florida, Man starts Friday on HBO.
