i had kind of a bizarre dream last night. maybe part of its subject matter is due to chapter 5 of episodic role-playing game Deltarune having released three days ago, but i digress.
my dream self along with his family were on a road trip through a forest in north america sometime in the fall, and at the end we arrived in Hometown, which - for those who don’t know - is one of the game’s primary settings. this also meant that in my dream, dark worlds were also a thing. anyway, in my dream Hometown looked more akin to something like a fall-themed, non-underground version of Snowdin. there were only about ten houses in total, the entire area was surrounded by about 100 meters of either grassland or farmland to each side before branching back off into the forested region, and the only car-based road there was the one leading into the town.
who did i come across? kris, asriel, and their parents were all there - and so were noelle, susie, and berdly. aside from them, not much others were there. one thing that stuck out in my mind is that dess had never gone missing in this dream - and due to her sharing my hobby of playing guitar, i remember that we bonded pretty much instantly. another thing is that in the light world, ralsei also had his own designated home - for whatever reason, that’s the first house i entered alongside the gang. of course, ralsei - being a darkner - wasn’t exactly present. however, there was still a room with an already-open dark fountain that allowed us to see him. for some reason i also rather vividly remember the first floor’s layout.
i think it should be here that i also mention my current fixation with the experimental puzzle game OneShot. you've probably heard of it before, so if you have you can skip this paragraph, but if you haven't - basically as the story goes, an eight year old with numerous feline-resembling features, legal name niko, is thrust into a dying world. to this world you are seen as their god, and niko, being the player character, is seen as their messiah. you are tasked with guiding them to replace said world’s sun, which in this world comes in the form of a lightbulb.
anyway, i believe this fixation showed itself in my dream on a much smaller scale, as my dream self and his family had stayed in Hometown until the evening, and i guess they had some kind of occasion on that had us place a lightbulb into a nearly ten-meter tall lamp. the catch is that we had nothing to do it with except myself, the lightbulb, and the rest of the gang. i guess they chose me to put it in because they heard that from time to time i like to fiddle about with whatever PC components my family has available. so, it ended up culminating in several people lifting each other up one by one, susie at the bottom because she’s the most physically strong of the guys, and eventually myself at the top putting it back in. i think i also sorted out some other electricity-based favours for the others until i woke back up.
this has been on my mind for about two hours now, and i feel like i need to get this off my chest now so i don’t forget about it later.
tl;dr: i had a dream where i ended up in a more rural version of Deltarune’s light world, me and the gang went to see ralsei, i had a few moments with dess who in this dream had never gone missing, and towards the evening we ended up carrying out a heavily downplayed version of the plot of OneShot, and i sort of became their impromptu electrician from there.
