  3. Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader (Original Soundtrack)
    by Various Artists
    supported by
    Ippocalyptica thumbnail
Ippocalyptica Rogue Trader had no business going as hard as it did and becoming one of the best modern turn-based RPGs, and part of its excellence is the epic soundtrack that is both artistically impressive on its own merits and captures the grimdark essence of Warhammer 40,000 absolutely perfectly. And any band or composer from any genre can learn a thing or two from the ominous and amazing organs throughout the album. For the Emperor, indeed!

  4. Vattenkrafternas Spel
    by Vintersorg
    supported by
North East Wizard Tyrant (NEWT) thumbnail
North East Wizard Tyrant (NEWT) A triumphant masterpiece of an album, a remarkable achievement that feels fresh and unique despite the band approaching their 30th year in existence. Both stands as a brilliant continuation of their career for long-time listeners, as well as a great entry-point for listeners new to Vintersorg. Favorite track: Skyrök.
    H.L. thumbnail
H.L. After Vintersorg's departure from Borknagar, I was looking forward to a new Vintersorg album. "Till Fjälls" and "Ödemarkens Son" are among my personal anthems of the 90s. "Vattenkrafternas Spel" is also unmistakably Vintersorg, thanks to his distinctive clean vocals, while the rough vocals seem like a complementary element. The progressive songwriting is multifaceted, at times sounding orchestral and incorporating some folk influences. I just miss more catchy, touching songs, like "Störtsjö". Favorite track: Störtsjö.

    bmurator thumbnail
bmurator Swedish Atmospheric / Melodic Black Metal. The one available track is outstanding! That, together with their previous album "Tundra" made this an instabuy... :) It is quite far away & I can't wait! I think metal sister Atti 🖤 needs more than just one song from this album but... ") Who am I to say? Highly recommended!!!

Edit: Came with the highest of expectations & all were more than met! Atti 🖤, I really think you need the rest as well... ") Extremely highly recommended once again!!!
    Roland thumbnail
Roland Tundra was one of my favorite records of 2023, so this pre-order was a no-brainer. First single gives me goosebumps already.

UPDATE: Expectations met, if not surpassed. Jord once again manage to craft an album that's brimming with atmosphere, providing space for both beauty and aggression. You get the calm and you get the storm. AOTY contender! Favorite track: Den Brandgula Salen.

Ippocalyptica I have the full version here on 29 April, and it is clear that Stormkeep has taken their first real creative risks on Nocturnes. This sounds a lot different than their previous works, to the point where you might be forgiven if you thought there had been a total lineup change (there was not). Differences include more breathing room, that every song is more dynamic, and that the album is, overall, more melodic but also more subdued. Still excellent, still worthwhile, and still Stormkeep!

    Visage Neige thumbnail
Visage Neige Excellent ! Du grand cru de chez Transcendance
    bmurator thumbnail
bmurator French Atmospheric Black Metal. Hylgaryss joined by Obyana with both clean & harsh vocals. The Hylgaryss touch is definitely here & Obyana's vocals sometimes bring a lightness to the album which would otherwise have been difficult... :) All this whilst dealing with a horribly difficult theme... I think it all works extremely well & it has been on repeat for me all day (just finished round 3 & I have only had it 24 hrs!). No faves! Some lyrics would be lovely... :) Highly recommended!!!

Turnbullet Erik comes back with another banger. Each album is a beautiful evolution and I'm so fortunate to be able to witness it. Americana/folk born from darkness, raised in tragedy, and served up to the disturbed. Erik Wunder forever. Favorite track: A Farewell To Arms.
    Bardo Morales thumbnail
Bardo Morales Non pretentious Dark Americana songs. Not bad, not amazing either. Cool nonetheless.

    Raskolnikov thumbnail
Raskolnikov Excellent and hypnotic electronica-infused doom.🤘Everything from the sound engineering to the instrumentation and vocals are top notch - the guitar and synths create such a dark and mystical atmosphere that helps the vocals truly shine. I also adore the usage of Greek for some of the vocal lines and lyricism, perhaps I am biased because I understand the lyrics but they sound even more beautiful to me that way 🙂 When I think about it this was AOTY to me for 2025! Favorite track: The Siren's Choice.
    Bertrand Marchal thumbnail
Beau projet.
