  1. SAINTE OBYANA DU FROID - The Purest Ending
    by Transcendance
    supported by
    soultree thumbnail
soultree Beautiful atmospheric black metal,deep,mystical,emotional..a true masterpiece of crystalline darkness Favorite track: One With Winter.
    Visage Neige thumbnail
Visage Neige Excellent ! Du grand cru de chez Transcendance
    bmurator thumbnail
bmurator French Atmospheric Black Metal. Hylgaryss joined by Obyana with both clean & harsh vocals. The Hylgaryss touch is definitely here & Obyana's vocals sometimes bring a lightness to the album which would otherwise have been difficult... :) All this whilst dealing with a horribly difficult theme... I think it all works extremely well & it has been on repeat for me all day (just finished round 3 & I have only had it 24 hrs!). No faves! Some lyrics would be lovely... :) Highly recommended!!!

  2. VERTIGE - Chute-Libre
    by Vertige

    lord_byleth thumbnail
lord_byleth Beyond black metal. Intimate and visceral album. Favorite track: Je glisse.
    Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) thumbnail
    Paintingmantis thumbnail
Paintingmantis Absolutely love this!! Some gentle changes from previous releases, with extended ambient, acoustic passages & spoken words, yet not forsaking the sound and raw atmosphere, but all together building and all encompassing the atmosphere and emotional depth 🖤

  3. Blessings and Curses
    by Non Est Deus
    supported by
    Bart thumbnail
Bart The "Impious" album by Non Est Deus was one of my favorite albums back in '22, but "Legacy" from '23 didn't quite click. This new album is a step back into fine form. This new album almost has...hope? The writer is struggling with some of life's biggest questions the music elevates it all. Still think "Impious" is my favorite album, but with each listen, this album gets closer. Favorite track: My Lord.
    allthegoodnamesgone thumbnail
allthegoodnamesgone Amazing album, keep it up Noise! Live in Munich was a feast! Favorite track: Transgression.
    thisk9barking thumbnail
thisk9barking This is really profound. I am amazed at the songwriting and ideas of a person who is trying to understand Christianity and is frustrated with the virus of religion.
Good stuff, thought provoking, and you and Hans kick serious ass.

  4. Ciel Cendre et Misère Noire
    by Houle
    supported by
    Versakhan Irenis thumbnail
Versakhan Irenis Since Houle unfortunately couldn't perform at VMM25, I eagerly anticipated their appearance at HSoB VII. What I saw and heard there immediately captivated me, and I had to buy their albums asap. There are few bands that manage to make me feel like I'm right back at their concert when I'm listening to their music, but Houle certainly belong to that group! Favorite track: Derrière l'Horizon.
    Roberto La Rana thumbnail
Roberto La Rana This album is outstanding, the atmosphere it creates is very well done.

I wrote a review for the album you can read more on my thoughts here: blackmetalzine.com/review-houle-ciel-cendre-et-misere-noire/ Favorite track: Sel, Sang et Gerçures.
    derwaldwunderling thumbnail
derwaldwunderling Saw them live on yesterdays Show in Oberhausen and was immediately hooked!
Immersive Show and a great atmospheric journey! Favorite track: Née Des Embruns.

    Abyssius Murkraken thumbnail
Abyssius Murkraken One of the best Melodic Black metal albums i have ever listened to. Everything is top notch level of quality. From the howling vocals to the catchy riffs, there's nothing bad here.... i can't find one negative to say about this album! Highly recommended! Favorite track: Daath.
    Sengoku thumbnail
Sengoku Drums, bass, and vocals are all top notch here, but the guitar and atmosphere is where this album really shines. Very catchy riffs with a lot of good harmonies and counterpoint. Favorite track: Daath.

  1. A Frame of Mind
    by KALANDRA
    supported by
    dave_bham thumbnail
dave_bham This is my AOTY 2025 as I've only just discovered it! Saw them support Leprous in 2023, can hear Leprous bass in Bardaginn, a bit of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters in State of the World, love the vocals, the atmosphere, the occasional heaviness...fantastic album, Ghost track is also excellent! Favorite track: The State of the World.
    Nareena thumbnail
Nareena Bardaginn is really strange—the guitar riff rolls back and forth and seems to loop. Trying to escape but stalling, stalling, gravity, reality pulling it back, then releasing...
A loaded spring, an engine revving and revving. I LOVE THIS SONG

A Frame of Mind is the preliminary end to a personal journey of mine that began with OMAM but really took off at ESC 2024 Favorite track: Bardaginn.
    FlashMuc thumbnail
FlashMuc Brilliant mix of Pop, Nordic Folk and a bit of Rock. Beautiful, moody, great vocals - highly recommended! Favorite track: The State of the World.
