t4ss heard one of the tracks on this album on Jazz FM. it took me to whole different place and wanted to hear the full album. Now I can't wait to get my hands on a Physical copy.

Fred Great record which arrived on Friday, release day. Instead of copying the cd, I thought I’d try sending you the download which I get free with the CD. It’s just wonderful music. Recorded I think in North Uist and produced by Laura Jurd, a brilliant trumpeter in her own right. Great FT together today.

  1. Bending Bridges
    by Mary Halvorson
    supported by
    Torsten thumbnail
Torsten Mary Halvorson’s 9 year old recording is all what it needs to be, bold, playful, inventive, and a bit “weird” as she might put it. An absolute joy to listen to, never too abstract to completely lose track of rhythm and never, never boring. MH has got the rare ability to stimulate brain and heart at the same time. Just wish they would reissue her 2 first albums on vinyl. Favorite track: Hemorrhaging Smiles (No. 25).

federicofrancszarco Bravo!! Desde España de un fan incondicional. Saludos Federico.
    Michael Mueller thumbnail
Michael Mueller Mary Halvorson's compositions make my head spin. As is so often the case with her work, here, she continues to twist and subvert conventional notions of melody and modality.

Her own playing is astonishingly deft, and the arrangements complex and inventive.

But there is a warmth here, too; a playful of spirit, a restlessness to continue to change and connect in new ways.

Halvorson isn't just a jazz innovator, she's fast becoming one of of the giants of new music. Favorite track: Smiles of Great Men (No. 34).
    Nerdwood thumbnail
Nerdwood Visionary guitarist and composer Mary Halvorson leads a seven-piece ensemble that swings, grooves, cooks, smokes, slices, dices and is just plain fun to listen to.
