ericsublett This album has *that* kind of vibe. Reminds me of the foreverness & contemplative moods of early click n cuts era, microsound, computer music work. Amazing job capturing that, it’s not easy! Favorite track: Looking Glass.

Harrison Phinney I dare say my favorite Short Span yet, which is saying a helluva lot given the label’s keen eye for talent and commitment to quality. “Give U Space” might as well serve as the motto for this record. K Wata has always demonstrated a knack for carving out cavernous sonic spaces, and this is another prime example of how to craft heavy music that is also spacious and thoughtful. sure to elicit some whoops at your next gig, and/or wake up some nodders at the afters. Respect!

Yasohn There's something deeply transportive running through this one: ambient space, dub textures, a real sense of place, but never atmosphere for atmosphere's sake. Favorite track: I Gotta.

ghosttropics A proper long-form ambient experience, one of those rare listens that keeps my attention from the beginning to end and demands a full listen every time. Mammo has always been a master of pacing and patience, and it is incredibly rewarding to hear his work distilled down to something even more gentle, yet no less immediate with a narrative that flows through each track and the vibrant worlds it conjures. Easily one of my favourite releases of 2025 so far.

Viridescent A unique interpretation of a much loved & covered genre. Lateral is a quietly radical entry in techno history.

ghosttropics From the technicolour electro bounce of Xyo, to the slinky, serpentine IDM crawl of Hoyve Ruu, to the shadowy stealth techno minimalism of Semni, Lateral keeps you on your toes with its unpredictable directions and yet always holds its centre and maintains a strong forward momentum. One gets the impression that Mammo spends just as much time listening as he does creating, allowing a broad range of influences to inform his undefinable and largely amorphous sound.
