xodus777 Fantastic album. A cold slice of doom cake sweet enough to see you through the night. 9/10. Favorite track: Wolfsbane.
    molexroots thumbnail
molexroots So incredibly fresh, venomous, gothic witchcraft. Spells set upon us by these four talentful magicians. Great things are abound for Cwfen. Get in there early, folks. Favorite track: Reliks.
    Sean thumbnail
Sean Excellent heavy gothic doom full of atmosphere and reverby, flangy, controlled feedbacking guitars that hearken all the way back to Bauhaus and Red Lorry Yellow Lorry. Exceptional vocals by guitarist Agnes Alder. If you like Fvnerals, Black Bile, Feversea, Ponte del Diavolo, and Opia, I think you’ll like this. Is it just me or is the most innovative metal genre stuff today coming from bands prominently featuring women musicians and singers? Favorite track: Embers.

Tin Can Audio This album is something special. Ethereal and yet heavy. Lushly produced but also incredibly soulful. A beautiful blend of different genres into something powerful and otherworldly. I love it very much, it was the perfect soundtrack for the darkest winter days Favorite track: The Dream Was The Cure.

  4. This Heathen Land
    by GREEN LUNG

    triplej26 thumbnail
triplej26 This Heathen Land by Green Lung has hit all the right spots for hard rock, doom metal sub genre. It felt like being in a musical theatre playing a part of a journey into an Albion Occult. Mood, production, lyrics and composition for how the tracks here played out is phenomenal for British metal.

Fun Epic folklore from shadow side of church, land, sky and deep oceans of time. Every track here has a different style of music. All of them equally fun to hear. This Heathen Land does not disappoint. Favorite track: Oceans of Time.
    zeroesandones thumbnail
zeroesandones Sleeper hit of the year for me. Damn fine album, especially the way it sucks you in with the opening track. So many tunes instantly stuck in my head. Favorite track: Maxine (Witch Queen).
    Onuma thumbnail
Onuma The songwriting, mood, production, composition, and lyrics on This Heathen Land are among the best I've ever encountered. As a metal head for nearly 40 years, I put this up there with Master of Puppets, The Chemical Wedding, Holy Diver, and Painkiller.

I'm a GREEN LUNG fan for life after hearing this one. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Favorite track: One for Sorrow.

    Johan_Asp_(Fanskapt+TheLordInVein) thumbnail
Johan_Asp_(Fanskapt+TheLordInVein) The best "new" band I´ve heard in 20+ years. Love them! I normally kind of just listen to my favourite bands that I got stuck on 20-30 years ago, bands that have a place in my heart (like NEW MODEL ARMY). Björn Strid from SOILWORK sent me a message, and included "Jackie". He said that he knew I would love this band... and right he was! It´s not that I´m picky about bands, it´s just that nothing has struck a nerve for the last 20 years or so, until this band came along! Fantastic songs!!
Favorite track: By Way Of Kingdom.

doctsect ... Candlemass has a secret child with Helmet... yet breed a superb 90's alt-goth-vixen sorceress for a vocalist during a secret okkvlt ritual....
... Sneak in some early Isis ... & Zola Jesus influences...

    Suddenly it's 1987(?) again ...wait?
... throwing back to to 1976?

ya, no, I dunno, maybe... but.. it's 2025 = and this band makes all this fucking brilliant. is it doom? is it goth?

    is it ... who cares...

Christian I absolutely love this album. One of the best modern doom metal albums in recent memory. Excellent vocal work, great droning guitars, and an awesome fantasy backdrop to boot. Very reminiscent of the Sword but with more haunting vocals. Favorite track: CRYSTAL CAVE.
    Sprenzee thumbnail
Sprenzee Castle Rat makes me want Golden Axe to be my true reality. Favorite track: WIZARD.
    Sun. Disappear thumbnail
Sun. Disappear Castle Rat are absolutely killing it.

They’ve put in the time and paid an absolute fuck ton of dues.

I’ve seen them being disparaged in the Doom community over some misconceived lack of “riffs”. 🙄

Castle Rat are arguably 10x more Metal than 80% of whatever else that happens to pass as “metal” these days.

    🤘🏼 Favorite track: SUN SONG.
