erwin_stechapfel If I hear a new song a dozen times on the first day, it's something really special!
    Stephen Taylor-Mills thumbnail
Stephen Taylor-Mills Ren’s Down the Road leans heavily into a deep, soulful blues sound, and it absolutely shines because of it.
There’s a richness in the tone straight away—those slow, expressive guitar lines feel rooted in classic blues, almost like they’re telling their own story alongside the vocals. It’s got that stripped-back, smoky feel, where every note matters and nothing is overproduced. You can hear the influence of old-school blues, but Ren makes it his own with a modern edge.
    His voice carries that grit

    delta2-7 awesome as always Ren.

    by Fela Kuti
    supported by
    Metsu thumbnail
Metsu I've been a fan of Kutoi for years, so it's great to have this in my collection. Everyone owes themselves a listen to this great artist. Favorite track: Gentleman (edit).
    Nqobani T thumbnail
Nqobani T I came across Jad Abumrad‘s ‘Fela Kuti: Fear No Man podcast series, and before started listening, I just instinctively decided to check if there was anything Fela new on Bandcamp. So much about Fela and his music fascinates me, so this is a welcome compilation indeed. Favorite track: Shuffering And Shmiling (part 2).

    Mister Meows thumbnail
Mister Meows My understanding is that Fela Kuti created Afrobeat; my experience is that he does it best. This is the largest quanity of booty-shaking jazz/funk/afrobeat/political rhythms you can get for your dollar. Give it to anyone who doesn't know what Afrobeat is and change their lives. Favorite track: Zombie.

    Ron Schrank thumbnail
Ron Schrank Simple, but not overkill production - it's just right. Her playing is so clean, deliberate and very innovative but really comfortable to flow along with. Vocals are stellar.
    Paul Crane thumbnail
Paul Crane Easily my favorite album of 2024, and it's only February! Every track here is a sonic adventure - stellar guitar work, such gorgeous vocals, (especially the harmonies), fantastic rhythm section, beautifully recorded, and the mix is perfect - Skin Deep and Some Other Day are the initial favorites, but every track is outstanding! Favorite track: Skin Deep.
    Victor thumbnail
Victor I love all the tracks but the different rythms and chord progressions in skin deep really spoke to me. Favorite track: Skin Deep.
