  3. Gods Without Name
    by AORATOS
    supported by
    kommander696 thumbnail
kommander696 AORATOS is the culmination of nightmare fuel and sheer terror in aural form! A must have for fans of brutal blackened death metal that specialises in ferocity of insane riffs, horrific vocals and blazing blast beats. Recommended especially to those who enjoy the sounds of Akhlys, Blut Aus Nord & Lvcifyre \m/ No favourite track as this album is perfection start to end then start over again, ad nauseam! A MUST own!
    lord_byleth thumbnail
lord_byleth Haunting and occult black metal. Very close to Akhlys with a different concept. Lyrics are very good and obscure, making me think of the colour of madness. One of the best album of 2019. Favorite track: Thresher.
    bmurator thumbnail
bmurator US Black Metal. This is a brain child of the extremely talented artist Alcameth. First came Nightbringer then Bestia Arcana & then this & finally Akhlys' Melinoë, unless I am mistaken... Every time Alcameth refined his utter destruction formula into something even better & more efficient. This & Melinoë both slay anyone & anything in their way! Truly scary BM that will blow your mind! Highly recommended!!!

    supported by
    Ghuughra thumbnail
Ghuughra Sigh... enough with the unpronounceable names guys.

In all seriousness though, it's strange how Poison Palinopsia can be distressing, forbidding, and crushingly heavy while still possessing an almost meditative quality. I'm on my third spin, it's a hell of a thing. Favorite track: Serpentine Susurrus - Mother's Abomination.
    gregory6 thumbnail
gregory6 Bought this after it came into my feed, it stopped me in my tracks. I'm an artist and I needed something to work this weekend and it fits the bill with an epic feel. It pulls you in like a fast moving dark river and I've been hitting repeat since I downloaded it. Also got high as fuck and went to Walmart, in which I found that I was stopping and just bobbing my head when certain grooves would take over.
    OliFant thumbnail

    Grimmrobe thumbnail
Grimmrobe A terrifying accomplishment in atmospherics, technicality, and horror, Vexovoid portrays Portal's infernal chaos with pinpoint accuracy.

It is mired in agony. It is devastating in its message. It is perfect. Favorite track: Curtain.

    Urso X thumbnail
Urso X So nice I got it twice, just to support the artist and call attention to what I think is one of the best albums in its genre (batshit crazy disso bm) this year.

PS — Agree with those who singled out the vocal performance. Favorite track: Throne of Perversion.
    Ekim Araho thumbnail
Ekim Araho This album keeps me in a trance, it's downright brilliant.
    GeN2Mo thumbnail
GeN2Mo Going by a list of the core stylistic elements used in the composition of this album, I should be completely in love with it. And yet it has taken me ages to really click with the thing. But I can't shake the feeling that whatever is making this work so unwieldy to me willl prove to be a strength in the end. A point of friction playing into its extremely up-front abrasiveness,

    grote_smurf thumbnail
grote_smurf Each album by Erik and his guys is a surprise; the older stuff like this second full length record has that raw "true black metal" sound. It has great quality of songwiting on it. On the later albums (like my personal favorite Sworn...) it's a little bit more polished. Track number 5, I'm The Earth, could be made by Mayhem and that's absolutely not a shame 🤘🤘🤘 Favorite track: Casus Luciferi.
    eManRenaissanc thumbnail
eManRenaissanc Just a flawless classic. More black metal should be like this.

rhudaurmusic Haunting, eerie yet fascinating compositions, with a touch of nostalgia. Felt like exploring an abandoned and rusty drainage system, with obscure threats at every step. Highly recommended for every lover of morbid dreamlike soundscape scenarios.
    Emery / GRAPEYGUTS thumbnail
Emery / GRAPEYGUTS INSANE debut, immersive soundscapes, fantastic talent. Will be digesting this album for a while, and can't wait for more! Favorite track: Spires Of Wet Meat and Bone.
    gorgonsAlter thumbnail
gorgonsAlter Amazing debut from this artist and I look forward to everything they do from here on Favorite track: Lucid Dreams of Emptiness.
    Miguel Amarok thumbnail
Miguel Amarok An incredibly cinematic debut album that feels like the soundtrack to a dark fantasy world ruled by blood magic. Favorite track: At The Rutting Rodent Tavern.

Father, You're Not a Father Father, You're Not a Father
    supported by
    Murphrygian thumbnail
Murphrygian One of the better death metal albums of all time! But is it even the best Immolation album? 🤷 To me, their best album is whichever is playing at the moment. Favorite track: Fall from a High Place.
    Obsidian One thumbnail
Obsidian One 'Higher Coward' is probably Immolation's most ferocious track in their discography. Holy hell, what a way to detonate the album! While the middle tracks never grabbed me like the opener, the album closes with 'Close to a World Below' — another potent and powerful composition. Close to a World Below, along with their two previous albums, Here in After and Failures for Gods, ranks among the most elite in the genre. And 'Close' might have the greatest death metal album cover ever. Favorite track: Higher Coward.
    fyeahmetal thumbnail
fyeahmetal In a catalogue of wall-to-wall greats, this has to be in the conversation for not only greatest Immolation record, but one of the best DM albums ever. It has that extra something - fury, atmosphere, unrelenting conviction - that pushes it beyond skillful genre exercise into armed audio warfare. Each band member is on fire. If you want to introduce someone to Immolation, you'd do well to start them here. Favorite track: Father, You're Not a Father.
