    Eleonore thumbnail
Eleonore Aja Monet is a real voice, with real words, with real heart, in the valley of noise and fury that is our world. Her work makes me feel like I can come back to myself. Favorite track: every media minute.
    amanda.systems thumbnail
amanda.systems I had this recommended to me on Qobuz and was listening to it biking to work. Still off my head on yesterday's barely recovered migraine and wearing yellowish tinted sunglasses that made everything look like an oversaturated CRT screen, I was somewhere in the middle of the album as I biked past a fir tree when a gust of wind was blowing a yellow cloud of pollen out of it, as a perfect comment to the poetry. I immediately bought the vinyl upon arriving.

I do not own a vinyl player.
    Nqobani T thumbnail
Nqobani T This album is a journey... well-worth the wait. The musicianship accompanying the poetry is just sublime. It's so beautiful and at times heartbreaking. Favorite track: for the Congo.

  3. Retorno
    by Mário Laginha
    supported by
    Philip Graham thumbnail
Philip Graham I adore Laginha's first solo piano record, Canções e Fugas (that collection's haunting first song, "Do Lado De Cá Do Mar," has seen me through some tough times), and so I'm thrilled that he has released a new solo album, one with equal gravity, joy and searching.
Laginha is a monumental jazz talent who deserves to be far better known outside the borders of his native Portugal. Favorite track: Mãos Abertas.

zhangtastic This can be funny and earnest. However, the words he sings is just a nice bear hug of comfort.
    Favorite track: Empathy

BeaverStreetHandicrafts Where has "Why Do Men Sing" been all my life? What a sentiment.
    Joe Snyder thumbnail
Joe Snyder Such an intimate and soulful record that touches on universal themes. This guy knows how to make an album! Listening to it on a rainy Saturday night and loving it. Thank you Bill! Favorite track: Lonely City.
    recklessbear thumbnail
recklessbear I can't explain why but this feels to me like the most honest Bill Callahan recording I've listened to so far. Also, I love the vibe that the musicians create for each of the songs. It's brilliant playing here.

SC Sowley What a night, indeed! Slick Willie don't give a fuck from the rip, and Diamond Jimmy White is riding sidesaddle the whole way down the beautiful, rocky terrain. Every cut here is a very special and unique version worthy of praise.
