sig Intimate and unique. Crunch it up in your finest pair of headphones. Favorite track: Passion Babe.

nowideau After the crossover appeal of Designer, I didn't warm initially to Warm Chris's more insular sound. Contra the title, the stripped down approach sounded like an artist retreating into the distance, kind of stand-offish. But I now think it's the opposite. Warm Chris is a remarkably brave record, both vulnerable and confident in its melodic idiosyncrasies. It asks to be loved...no, it KNOWS it will be loved on its own terms, terms enough to make it one of the year's best.
    Joshua White thumbnail
Joshua White otherworldly but approachable. I keep coming back Favorite track: Leathery Whip.

  3. Disquiet
    by The Necks

rvss.eel I thought Bleed was very good, but not great. Disquiet, however, is greatness. An album of this length is risky, but it works as three disks individually, and as a three hour whole. Rapid Eye Movement and Ghost Net are equally propelling in completely different ways. Causeway is utterly beautiful from the opening notes, and sublimely shocking when the drums finally join in. Warm Running Sunlight seems to suspend time. Disquiet could be even longer if it wanted to.

This is my #5 album of 2025. Favorite track: Causeway.
    Giles thumbnail
Giles Astonishingly great, proving in the most maximal way that The Necks method is not a formula, it's an inexhaustible vein of very precious material. Every off-kilter cymbal pattern, subtle variation of tone, and shifting accent is utterly convincing and compelling and the emotional and intellectual depth is greater than ever.

Alex Mott Absolutely love this music. I have never heard of them before but now looking forward to diving into the back catalogue. All the tracks are great but Causeway is the standout for me.

  4. Travel
    by The Necks

rvss.eel You'd think that the statement "this is the work of amazing musicians playing together" should apply to everything that I choose to listen to, but I still feel the need to emphasize it here. Four songs, 17-21 minutes each, and every moment is alive with intensity, filled with atmosphere, shrouded with energy that pulls you forward even in the most repetitive or simplistic moments. Travel is dramatic, in the calmest, coolest way, and it is very good. Favorite track: Signal.
    James Christie thumbnail
James Christie I have been a collector of many of the Necks albums and seen them live a few times. I think this might be the highlight of their recorded work. Complex but accessible, diving, flowing and alive . Can't yet pick a favourite

c11p Time and time again, these astounding musicians, the greatest of the greats, elicit emotions that no one else can. No one can make me FEEL music as purely as The Necks. Favorite track: Forming.

YETI BOTTLE The lack of Nala Sinephro's music coverage is a damn shame. This album is one of the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life.
Thank you so much! ✨❤️ Favorite track: Grand Prix.
