I have always appreciated reggae from a distance, finding that the closer I got the more it all melded into a kind of sameness to my ears. But the feel of the music always made me want to tap my toes and… relax.
This album by this band upends all conventions, having more in common sonically and vocally with 50s and 60s doo-wop than reggae at large. There is some kind of magic here.
