I.F. Utterly transfixing and beautiful. Melodies that feel like they could go anywhere and everywhere. Favorite track: Teeth.

Joseph Auner Explosively epic, intricately layered, intimate, and playful, Charmaine Lee’s “Tulpa” opens up an immersive, intense, and completely original world of sound.  Favorite track: “The Loading Zone.”
    ewanaparicio thumbnail
ewanaparicio I have a friend who can play drums and make his voice sound like an electric guitar solo at the same time. That all sounds very impressive until witnessing Charmaine perform live. The same friend has also never released a record, let alone one as good as Tulpa.

Charmaine combines voice, electronics and noise to casually bulldoze any lingering ideas about what vocal music is supposed to sound like. This record is equal parts playful and unruly, made with total control and zero pretentiousness. Favorite track: Overlevered.
