Gleanie Out of every track listing in the Henge discography, this one makes the least sense. Other than that, this is a pretty cool EP!
The space cowboy energy is strong on here, the songs are fun, and there are some great textures all over it.
The Great Venusian Apocalypse is an absolute beast, it's my favorite Henge song, and it's easily the best-sounding one. Its production sounds almost industrial, it's super dark, and thick, and sharp, and I love it. Favorite track: The Great Venusian Apocalypse.
    The Beats Bizarre thumbnail
The Beats Bizarre beautiful vinyl just arrived this morning.......heavy......quickly delivered...sounds great......all tracks are my faves.......you are the last band i saw before lockdown at the brude in leeds...I cannot wait to see you again
    nob2607 thumbnail
nob2607 A mishmash of seemingly contradictory genres, Henge not only somehow make it work, but every track is amazingly danceable and fun.

The Great Venusian Apocalypse is an absolute banger but please do not applaud: It is very insensitive to cheer at the destruction of an entire planet, especially when the sole survivor is present. Favorite track: The Great Venusian Apocalypse.

mikespall Like everything Henge, it is sublime, crazy and the perfect upbeat soundtrack to an utterly bonkers world!

Wisdoms End Did it surprise me, that you guys tour with Gnome?

    Abso-fking-lutely not!

Glory to you and your magnificent Spaceship-Hippy-Caravan of sound.

    Favorite track: Monolith.
    Gleanie thumbnail
Gleanie My favorite Henge album. This one has it all: zany pop-prog, sci-fi chiptune, pretty psychedelia, pitch-shifted alien rapping, space cowboy balladry... Basically the blueprint of all the things they would explore on their subsequent three albums, but they were already perfected here. This is also one of the two Henge releases that actually flow well as album-experiences. The space-afrobeat outro is a bit of an outlier, but it works perfectly, and it's also my favorite track on here. Favorite track: Demilitarise.
    ernestohoro thumbnail
ernestohoro Dear alien friends, thank you for landing on the festival grounds near Herzberg Castle to put on a little show. May your journey be safe and your path be clear. PEACE Favorite track: Demilitarise.

Teasy Great live experience, we had a lot of fun. Favorite track: Slingshot.
    Gleanie thumbnail
Gleanie I think this is Henge at their most focused and polished. The album structure is clear and compelling, the distribution of cartoonishness/chiptune and spacy psychedelia across the runtime feels perfect, and even the songs themselves feel more straightforward than before, without giving up any of their complexity, zaniness, or creativity.
Really Slingshot is the only song that feels like a standalone pop tune, everything else seems to serve the overall album experience - and they do it well! Favorite track: Ascending.
    PIDGE thumbnail
PIDGE This album seems a little more grounded than previous albums. Less goofy and more interesting space rock. I’m a fan if they keep this up. Similar to Tong. Favorite track: Hypersleep.

Gleanie This was the first Henge album I've heard, and it was a surprisingly easy listen for how nonsensical the track order is, and how much is happening on each individual song.
This is the musical equivalent of eating sweets for lunch.
The first seven tracks are the closest they've ever come to making straight-up novelty music, while the last three feel like a semi-unrelated psychedelic journey.
The song Tardigrades lives up to its subject matter. Favorite track: Altered State.

    Gleanie An alien rave epic.
Exo is a beautiful display of childlike wonder and playfulness - I would also call it the quintessential Henge song.
Get Outta Ma House is an unexpected early Ween × Die Antwoord crossover.
Nom's Theme feels like traditional space-slav dance music, with some crazy tempo shifts.
Goldilocks is a perfect opener, and just a perfect song in general.
    Favorite track: Goldilocks.
    Whistling Treason thumbnail
Whistling Treason One of the best, and indeed silliest, live acts out there right now. Favorite track: Exo.
    Gandalf Alf von Asseldorn thumbnail
Gandalf Alf von Asseldorn Fresh fruits for this toilet earth! Best live experience you could ever had! Somewhere between old Gong, Guardian Alien and HGichT :-) Favorite track: New Planet.
    nob2607 thumbnail
nob2607 I love an album that'll give me a taste of hardcore punk and mix it in with a bit of hardcore techno. Exo is a track that does extremely well at that. Favorite track: Exo.

originalbramblesquid There is such an energy in these tracks, the sort of energy you can only get by building your own synthesizers! That's what makes these albums so good Favorite track: Double Barrelled Decadence.
    "Osaka" thumbnail
"Osaka" Recorded piecemeal over four years, sketched out as long ago as the '10s, rooted in '80s synthpop, packed with a '70s punk fury, but still sounds like a record of the here and now. Favorite track: Mind Over Matter.
