    sashavonkarl74 thumbnail
sashavonkarl74 Big fan of this Swiss tech/DM band from the french part, they have gotten better and better, but I decided to get this earlier release too. Impermanence remains an all time favorite hard to beat, but "Emptiness" already strengthened the band position in the tech-DM scene and made them known worldwide! #staytech Favorite track: The Forge.

technically_damaged "Necropalace" takes a new direction toward Symphonic Black Doom, a cosmic, ethereal, and nocturnal result that invites us to immerse ourselves in new forms. Fans of Limbonic Art, Diabolical Masquerade, and Necromantia will worship Necropalace and become one with the call... Favorite track: Dragon Dreams.
    trenxch thumbnail
trenxch epic songs and mystical ballads. Favorite track: Blackheart.
    JulieFern thumbnail
JulieFern Fantastic album, one of the best metal albums of the year so far, the guitarwork is insane, the atmosphere is beautifully gothic and so so melodic, a solid 9.5/10 Favorite track: The Night Has Fangs.

    x-camp0 thumbnail
x-camp0 The band's harsh impact continues to instill fear among their audience, but with an abysmal truth that defines their brutality. Favorite track: Xeno Chaos.
    Tristan Bolding thumbnail
Tristan Bolding My original comment was apparently deemed "too long" for the feeble powers of Bandcamp, so let me just say: This album is absolutely incredible and mind-bending, and is tied for my #1 album oAT. Every time I listen (which is often) I hear something new. Do yourself a favor and pick this up, and listen to the rest of their stuff too, especially if you're a meloblack junkie like me. Favorite track: Rise of the Insidious.
    pinkytheent thumbnail
pinkytheent Stortregn come roaring back with more of what got you electrified: stupendously and thickly melodic technical melodeth, always giving more weight to the “melo” than the “tech,” to superb results. Songwriting and composition is just superb, acoustic elements are seamlessly blended in (flamenco and metal seamlessly shred together!), melodic turns are engaging and lush and wrap around metal heaviness which will still have you headbanging and stank-facing throughout. Favorite track: Xeno Chaos.

  4. Stack Overflow In Corpse Pile Interface (Deluxe Edition)
    by A Forest Of Stars
    supported by
    ThegnJoy thumbnail
ThegnJoy There are some absolutely unbelievable passages on this album that gave me full body chills making it a very addictive listen. Extremely high up contender for my favourite album of this year, and it may be hard to topple. Favorite track: Sway, Draped In Vague.
    Harold N’Hiver thumbnail
Harold N’Hiver If there was ever any doubt that AFoS is the most interesting and innovative band in metal - nay, in all of extreme music - (there wasn’t), this should settle that debate. The dramatics, the theatrics, the perfectly placed restraint… it’s all a recipe for excellence in composition and performance.

I don’t generally care anymore for “album of the year” talk, but this is going to be tough for any band to top.

And yes, please indulge in the deluxe edition. The 3 extra tracks are all phenomenal.
    Archmage Orladin thumbnail
Archmage Orladin On this album the extreme metal elements are slightly more subdued, in favor of a more meandering/progressive approach. Nevertheless the band is in peak form and there are several very memorable passages on all the songs, which is impressive due to their length. It must be said that the vocalist once again steals the show, and the man is in a class of his own among metal vocalists. While I prefer the previous two albums, this might be their best. A stunning masterpiece, and worth the wait. Favorite track: Not Drinking Water.

    by Am I in Trouble?
    supported by
    Appalachian Threnodist thumbnail
Appalachian Threnodist This album takes damn near everything I love about black metal and wraps it up into one blisteringly beautiful package.

It has shades of acts like Borknagar, Enslaved, Agalloch and others, but those influences are just that. What AIiT? has done here is transcend those influences to create a record that's -truly- special and unique and forcefully carves its own path into the annals of black metal history.

This isn't an album to be missed. It's certainly one to be treasured for years to come.
    Demokritus Jorik thumbnail
Demokritus Jorik I really like that the download content include guitar tabs. It's really nice considering anyone can get free music in this modern era with all the streaming stuff. You can stream music anywhere, but the digital extra is exclusive for anyone who purchase the digital version, and this is a really good move so buying this has real value. Aside from all that, this is a solid progressive metal album that offers vibrant abilities of the brighter side of metal spectrum. Favorite track: White.
    bmurator thumbnail
bmurator US Avant-garde Black Metal. A one man, Steve Wiener, project. Should I call it multi-coloured BM? Yes! It is now official, BM comes in different colours... :) Having said that, all the tracks here are wildly different! But each & every one of them is addictive & magnetic & captivating - I am glued to my speakers... :) What a superb project! I am incredibly excited to see & in particular *hear* where Steve takes it next! No faves! Highly recommended!!!

    Akira Watts thumbnail
Akira Watts Absolutely stunning album. The strings and other orchestral elements manage to be more than just embellishments without overwhelming the sound, which is a neat trick that few bands manage to pull off. And the sax line on Walk Amongst, that seems to have wandered in from the 80s,has no goddamned business working as perfectly as it does. Virtually flawless, and a strong contender for AOTY. Favorite track: Walk Amongst.

cloudednine This album is the feeling of being in a warm house while looking through a window onto a frozen landscape.
The sound is beautiful and consistent throughout. Let it wash over you like an inevitable tide. Favorite track: Wisdom of the Falling Leaves.
    Facepalming Panda thumbnail
Facepalming Panda Atmospheric melodic death/doom with tight compositions and clean, punchy arrangements that make 8 minute songs feel like 3 minute songs. Immaculate vibes from beginning to end. Favorite track: Harbingers.
    undeadknight94 thumbnail
undeadknight94 I don’t know how I missed this stellar release and band, and I love melodic death metal. This album flows so well and hits the feels. Highly recommend! Favorite track: Adrift, Beneath the Listless Waves.

Christian I absolutely love this album. One of the best modern doom metal albums in recent memory. Excellent vocal work, great droning guitars, and an awesome fantasy backdrop to boot. Very reminiscent of the Sword but with more haunting vocals. Favorite track: CRYSTAL CAVE.
    Sprenzee thumbnail
Sprenzee Castle Rat makes me want Golden Axe to be my true reality. Favorite track: WIZARD.
    Sun. Disappear thumbnail
Sun. Disappear Castle Rat are absolutely killing it.

They’ve put in the time and paid an absolute fuck ton of dues.

I’ve seen them being disparaged in the Doom community over some misconceived lack of “riffs”. 🙄

Castle Rat are arguably 10x more Metal than 80% of whatever else that happens to pass as “metal” these days.

    🤘🏼 Favorite track: SUN SONG.
