  1. We Are Surging Waters

    Nikolas Fotakis thumbnail
Nikolas Fotakis Oh! My! God(dess)! What an absolutely magnificent work of art! On first listen I select ‘Fish Without a Bicycle’ because (a) I know the slogan (but didn’t know the story, and its Australian background, so this Greek Aussie is grateful for the opportunity to learn something) and it made me smile, and (b) I loved how the melody and harmony created this bittersweet, contemplating undertones. Very well done!

    by Jazzbois
    supported by
    Rudi thumbnail
Rudi The three Jazzbois play a distinctive, hip-hop-inspired style that is instantly recognizable. Their groovy gig at Moods in Zurich in February 2026 got the audience moving and I really enjoyed it. And by the way, Tamás' seemingly effortless, light, and elegant style on the drums is definitely one of my favorites. Favorite track: TOOHI.
    JB thumbnail
JB Sophisticated, playful and unappreciated by the most, just as any jazz record in history.

Some tracks remind me of a schizophrenic version of Paulo Arruda deep house lounge music mixes compilation played for middle-aged bartenders working in semi-luxurious clubs serving gin tonics to corporate business men and women having the time of their life.

Jokes aside, everything I love about fusion music, these beats never stop. Favorite track: CHROME (feat Dom Beats).
    Dj Halabi thumbnail
Dj Halabi This is raw dope jazz at its finest. Favorite track: LAVA VALLEY.

David Ralfe Just had to get a physical copy mailed over to the UK, even though it's costing me a fortune in postage! I discovered this album by chance and it's one of the most beautiful records I've heard in years. My partner and I are having a baby in a few months and I'm getting a stack of beautiful records ready to listen to with my new son/daughter. This will be top of the pile.

Favorite track: Yor Zarad.

William Ahrens I think this is Ty’s best solo work. It’s masterfully written. I don’t know how you keep doing it but it’s like we are witnessing The Beatles and T. Rex hanging out. This is on another level. Great job guys.

matthewrfrancis DANG this album is good, killer energy from beginning to end. As a tuba player myself I cannot get over how skilled Cross is as a player and how much FUNK the whole band has. Favorite track: Radiation (Live At Blue Note New York).

    Andrew Garton thumbnail
Andrew Garton When I first saw you at the Melb jazz fest I'd already been listening to and marvelling at your playing with Trevor Dunn. This album is inventive and divine, intricate and sublime, all the qualities I have long admired since Trio Convulsant's awesome 2004 album, Sister Phantom Owl Fish :)
