  1. The Burden of Restlessness
    by King Buffalo
    supported by
    Bertrand Marchal thumbnail
    houghster007 thumbnail
houghster007 Phenomenal album. Brilliant from beginning to end. Amazing musicianship and album art. Just faultless.... Favorite track: Burning.
    Rüdiger Jay thumbnail
Rüdiger Jay captures the album title via sound pretty well.

pictureelement As has happened many times now, YouTube Music's algorithm introduced me to something that would earn a place in my collection! If I'd just looked at the genre description and the band title, honestly, I would have never given this album a listen. Just didn't seem like anything I'd like. Boy, has my mind been changed! Favorite track: Hours.

shoddy_dan Just a great song from start to finish. Favorite track: Firmament.

  3. Liminality / Dream State Return
    by Elder
    supported by
    Tom Colquhoun thumbnail
Tom Colquhoun This double ep opens with a crushing and cinematic epic of prog/psych to stir the soul, but holy shit Dream State Return is the standout here, taking Elder to uncharted territory and just building so much energy between the synths, drums and distorted riffs that you can feel the G-force.
From what's been released from Through Zero so far, this ep feels like a huge milestone in the band's evolution.

Can we talk about the gorgeous covert art too? The legacy of Roger Dean <3 Favorite track: Dream State Return.
    TheEliteExtremophile thumbnail
TheEliteExtremophile “Dream State Return” is the more interesting piece here. It’s more overtly progressive and features influences from early proto-electronic acts like Tangerine Dream, alongside metallic riffs.

Full review here: theeliteextremophile.com/2025/12/11/odds-ends-december-11-2025/ Favorite track: Dream State Return.

GeN2Mo All of Townsends indulgences, filtered utterly and completely through theatricality. Free of the strict adherence to song-structure but also free of the sheer excess of works like "Deconstruction". Resulting in probably one of his most well balanced and focused works in two decades; enabling his compositional proficiency to shine and enrapture in ways it, at least for me, hasn't in a long time.
    Egg Wizard thumbnail
Egg Wizard Bought this version rather than the extended version first. I ain't even mad. Love ya Devin. Favorite track: Stained Hearts.
