Griffyn Louis Denizard There are so much folk albums, this is one has a particular intensity. The voice caught me as did Siouxsie or Liz Frazer in the 80's...

    MOON DUST thumbnail
MOON DUST Theatrical, powerful and mystical music. When I close my eyes I see things, very imaginative music. I could listen to it while painting with black paint on canvas.
    Owliam Onirax thumbnail
Owliam Onirax A world travel within our own very private realms. Touching deep Favorite track: Ichor.
    Alice M. thumbnail
Alice M. Maybe finally I’ll be able to say that an album is “esoteric” without people poking fun at me? xD
Those Bulgarian-chorus-like vocals sprinkled here and there (and sometimes ingeniously mixed with other distinctive styles) give me strong nostalgic video-game-ish vibes. Favorite track: Kokyou.

    apillowofwinds thumbnail
apillowofwinds It is a rare thing that every track on an album is the stand out piece.
Jo manages to make this commonplace. Notan is a stand out album amongst a legacy of stand out albums. Favorite track: First Rain.

angelbones01 Myrkur knows how to experiment without selling out! I've had this album stuck in my head for the past couple of weeks. "Like Humans" makes me feel like floating lol Favorite track: Like Humans.
    Storm thumbnail
Storm Cool album i enjoyed it! Favorite track: Valkyriernes Sang.
    J K A m c 8216 thumbnail
J K A m c 8216 really liking new album. I've missed the sound from 1st album which I'm pleased is back in places, enjoying the heavier bits too. definitely liking the baroness style guitar bit on one of the tracks and the bit that reminds me of the matrix music. This is a really good album as so much going on but very well executed. Gets better the more I listen to it.

    Nickie Harte Kelly thumbnail
Nickie Harte Kelly Mediæval Bæbes have released these 12 tracks in honour of the twelve months of the year. As usual, they bring lush and gorgeous intertwining vocals and plenty of exotic instrumentation (just far too many to list, so you’ll have to trust me). Every track is a masterwork, but choosing November as being representative of the release. Favorite track: November.
    gaminette thumbnail
gaminette I love this one (March) too. Stunning arrangement. Classic Baebes! <3

And April too. This album is amazing. Favorite track: March.
    gwenllian_south thumbnail
gwenllian_south As someone who spins wool into yarn, is a huge fan of the Mediaeval Babes (and sings a bit too), how could I resist buying this new album: The Spinning Wheel?
    jonquins thumbnail
jonquins I have been a huge Mediaeval Baebes fan since Salva Nos. The 3 tracks that I have heard from the new album are all wonderful ♥️ I can’t wait for the whole album to be released 💜

    Track 00:00/00:00

    Master of Alchemy thumbnail
Master of Alchemy This is perhaps Amalie Bruun's most honest expression of her native folk music, being a live recording and featuring the nyckelharpa (an ancient Swedish key harp). It has an authenticity unmatched by any of her other similar releases. Few folk artists compare in talent or quality. I do hope that Amalie releases more folk music like this, recorded in a way which captures the earthiness and intimacy that such music benefits from - I am dying to hear more!
    Amber Dean thumbnail
Amber Dean Scandinavian folk music touches a part of my soul that I simply can't articulate... and Myrkur's renditions are beyond spectacular.
    Kirk Gauthier thumbnail
Kirk Gauthier Hauntingly beautiful Scandinavian folk music piece from the disgustingly talented Amalie Brune. Recorded during the sessions for Mareridt, it didn’t quite fit the vibe of the album but absolutely stands solidly on its own.

    Onde Børn Onde Børn

    ganondox thumbnail
ganondox Some of the most incredible black metal I've heard, both amazingly creative while surprisingly traditional. Normally I'm not a fan of putting acoustic songs in metal albums, but in this case they are just too beautiful to do without. Favorite track: Nordlys.
    Lanna E thumbnail
Lanna E I can't choose a favorite track. The entirety of this album is best enjoyed in full. I love the melodic elements. The dark fueled themes. I love the light voice to the harsh voice. It is completely amazing! I had to buy it twice: cd (for the car) and vinyl (for at home). Brilliant!
    Brandon133 thumbnail
Brandon133 Beautiful music, I can not wait to hear this on vinyl Favorite track: Onde Børn.

    Xenspell (Real/Not AI) thumbnail
Xenspell (Real/Not AI) I don't understand the negativity toward this artist. Maybe it's that she's seen as an "outsider" that popped up one day and decided to make black metal (and ends up sounding as good or better than a lot of "real" black metal bands).
    jchibnall thumbnail
jchibnall i love this artist!!!! Favorite track: Ravnens Banner.
    Edson thumbnail
Edson With this EP Myrkur already caught the attention of the whole Heavy Metal scene (unfortunately, some jerks paid attention to it on a negative and disrespectful way). It carries the essence of Black Metal and the folk nordic music both inspired by nature. With this body of work, Amalie shows she's here to STAY and to MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Favorite track: Må Du Brænde i Helvede.
