    magoski rain
    soft,
    luminous,
    honest—

    smell the moist earth,
    the wet hum
    beneath the ruin,
    and I cannot help
    but feel desire,
    here,
    now,
    with you.

    Les oiseaux
    crient—
    non pas peur,
    mais reconnaissance.
    Ils nous voient.
    They see us.

    nomeando o vento
    como se fosse sagrado—
    naming the wind
    as if it were sacred,
    as if it carried
    the truth
    we were too shy
    to say aloud.

    And here
    in this trembling
    broken
    holy
    sky,

    I choose you
    again
    and again
    and again—

    in every language
    the air
knows how to speak. Favorite track: l'arrivée de l'orage dans la région du sertão.

    magoski reconciliation:
    understanding the ache
    is not punishment,
    but motion
    Not loss
    but continuation.
    Not emptiness,
    but the space
    required
    for return
    You do not reconcile
    by forgetting.
    You reconcile
    by finally seeing
    that longing
    is the universe’s way
    of keeping you
    moving.
    It is the force
    that keeps planets
    from falling into their suns,
    yet prevents them
    from drifting into cold oblivion.
    Michael Upton (Jet Jaguar) thumbnail
Michael Upton (Jet Jaguar) Swarm of bees in my ears? Sounds great, why not? I love that I don’t know how much is just a “faithful” field recording vs arranged. Something sort of magical-feeling about the whole album. Favorite track: wie tief dringt ein ton ein? (how deeply does a sound penetrate?).
    mikehoolboom thumbnail
mikehoolboom These tracings (what is field recording if not tracings?) touch back. Not rain but every rain drop. Not water but every pebble a sluice. Each exactingly noted sound makes point and counterpoint. Each repetition carries variation. Sober and scintillating. One of the year’s highpoints Favorite track: regen ist die sonne des klangs (rain is the sun of sound).
