astro-squid To hear the music as the band intended is a rare treat. Usually the tapes are lost in some way or the band has no desire to do the rework.

This album was on constant rotation in my dorm room and on my radio show (WRPN 90.1 FM).

Listening now brings me right back to those days, and I thank the band for that.

A great album made greater. who doesn't like that?

DAS VILLAIN Velocity Girl were definitely once of the outliers in the Washington DC "harDCore" scene during the late 1980's. Influenced by the DC hardcore scene, but diametrically removed from it, VG's sound was more 'clean' indie rock/shoegazing and than their 'abrasive hardcore DC' counterparts. With the rerelease of Copacetic, the band expands on the bands greatness with pop perfection intermingled with harsher guitar tones (on this release), and noisy-driven dream pop. Favorite track: Copacetic.

zobarx Incredible to think that I still own the copy of this CD that I bought as a sophomore in highschool in 1994. 2 best songs are Living Well into the windstorm of A Chang, kicking rocks alone on an empty foggy street, waiting for a ride anywhere...

zobarx 2/13 edit: confirmed. Buy the CD, it's still such a good album, and the flac files sound great, too, but I'm crestfallen that we'd get such a poor pressing /mixed vinyl that any distortion enhanced just sounds like it's clipping. I'm running a Luxman turntable with an SME tonearm paired with a Denon DL-103r cartridge out to a Dynavector phono preamp, so I can't avoid the quality of the pressing. It sounds like they just dumped the CD mix onto vinyl - clipping be damned.

jnagy63 This really doesn't sound good. "Drug Girls" is a particular offender on the vinyl. Distorted as hell. Favorite track: Tripping Wires (2025 Remaster).
