  1. The Underworld Awaits Us All
    by NILE
    supported by
    Patacelsus thumbnail
Patacelsus Nile has been the first name in metal for me for over 20 years. From the brutal tracks to the inside joke song names, Nile is unforgettable. What they do on these tracks cannot be undone. Favorite track: Stelae of Vultures.
    The Questionable Question thumbnail
The Questionable Question Intense. Brutal. Relentless. Rather short. But on the spot and without any messing around. "To Strike with Secret Fang" is a bit of a surprise.

The rest of the album. Considering that I lost Nile a bit out of view over the years, one recognizes the brutality and the intensity on this release rather fastly.

This trip is quite a trip. Personally, I prefer the fast and intense tracks. Favorite track: To Strike with Secret Fang.

  2. Sleepless Empire (24-bit HD audio)
    by Lacuna Coil
    supported by
    Sean S thumbnail
Sean S Another fantastic album as the band expresses their experiences and continues to poke and the tenuous fabric of an unsupportive and unhealthy popular culture. Wonderful stuff! Favorite track: I Wish You Were Dead.
    Piper Haqim thumbnail
Piper Haqim Shockingly, this has some of their best music in yearsssss Favorite track: Gravity.
    doive thumbnail
doive Lacuna Coil's reputation is long lived and so very justified in the higher spheres of metal music worldwide. Since their very first Ep I've fallen for Cristina's memorably energetic vocals and for the very thorough instrumentalisation overall. A number of releases after and years in the becoming came Sleepless Empire, more straight to the point and serrated than their previous creations whilst still maintaining the atmospheric and melodic assets that made the band grow on us so vividly. Favorite track: In Nomine Patris.

    sashavonkarl74 thumbnail
sashavonkarl74 Indeed, also thankful to Dark Descent for the reissue! This is indeed a must have album for fans of Perdition Temple and Immolation, as LVCIFYRE delivered here that dense slab of blackened DM with superb tech passages. Menthor on drums is a human machine, just listen to those cymbals! Favorite track: Succubi.
    Dan Hébert thumbnail
Dan Hébert A stellar debut. This is definitely more death metal oriented as opposed to the death/black hybrid style displayed on Sun Eater, the Sacrament EP and The Broken Seal. Noticeable Morbid Angel influence. Love it, and I'm so stoked that Dark Descent reissued it. Favorite track: Death's Magnetic Sleep.

meshuggah59 I cant tell about the two other members but sure miss Mutterlein is so deranged and dark because her record shop stands besides the church.I saw this as i went there during holidays in Brittany (just was closed sniff) Favorite track: PHENOL - Sinister.
    Matten thumbnail
    Matten Very cool collaboration.
Obviously I love Vindsval's contribution, but Marion's vocals pleasantly surprised me; impassioned indeed. And Sora's contribution may be easy to take for granted, what with the guitar and vocals at the forefront, but is equally impressive. Favorite track: MUSCARINE - What is sacred.
    Lorenzo thumbnail
Lorenzo A collective vision of boundary pushing and experimental industrial metal, bringing together strengths into a potent album

Taking the most cues from Mütterlein, particularly the dreadful vocals, this album paints an incredibly bleak world with a predominant gothic post-punk sound with textures of black metal tremolos and drums further bathed in dark electronics and ritualistic noise

A sinister intent looms over each track, bleeding feelings of despair, apathy, grief into a chaotic void

David Hutchison very cool and different.im gonna listen to it today in the headphones.then ill pick my fav song. Favorite track: Blue Light Infinite.
    Dan Curhan thumbnail
Dan Curhan I'm hooked! Standout prog-death with mixed vox, double-thumb, and groove for days. The vocals are superbly written - a bit unconventional but entirely convincing. It's a gloriously fun record, while also kicking several metric shit-tons of ass.
