Jarak I swear this album changes style as it goes along. It starts kinda OK for me, but gets stronger as it carries on and the final track really grabs me. Favorite track: Of Murthre Made Manifest Beneþe Dede Sones.

    FuegoMyEggo insta buy?

    insta buy.

I would also like to thank Yoma, love this project/band/collective/whatever it is

    *edit*

bitten by the insta buy this time haha

for me personally, this album is a miss.

way too reliant on the vocals to carry the load, and the vocal theme is unfortunately repetitive and also mixed too far forward in the overall production. (again, imo)

previous releases are highly recommended, and by all means check this one out as well, everything is subjective.

    Urso X thumbnail
Urso X As others have noted, this project represents a distillation of the very best of Icelandic bm. The execution, songwriting, production, and lyrics are all simply sublime. 10/10. Favorite track: Afbrigði VII.
    Dolls, Robots, and Matrices thumbnail
Dolls, Robots, and Matrices the best distilling of Icelandic black metal to date and has a haunting atmosphere. Dreadful but also uplifting at the same time. 10/10 album will strongly recommend for fans of atmospheric metal. Favorite track: Afbrigði XI.
    Jeff Wilson thumbnail
Jeff Wilson Easily some of the best Icelandic black metal out there. It's progressive, almost avant-garde, while remaining engaging. On every listen I find myself wanting to listen more and more, especially when I have to stop to go do something else. A gem that more people should be listening to. Favorite track: Afbrigði VII.

    Der Brecher thumbnail
Der Brecher I normally don't say things about vocals. I just care more about instruments & songwriting. And while both are quite exceptionally done here, it's the fucking VOCALS, that give this thing the last shove into the realm of absolute greatness for me. I mean what the hell is he DOING??? Arrrrrrrgh!!! Now look: I know that this will probably be totally different for you. But you know what? I don't care. Buy this for whatever reason you like, but don't miss out on it. Exceptionally good.
    Herman thumbnail
Herman Someone said "weird black metal" and I came running in.

    Black Shaman Black Shaman

    wyrdful-witchcraft thumbnail
wyrdful-witchcraft Tradition is a masterclass in atmospheric black metal—dark, immersive, and cinematic. From the opening moments of "Black Shaman" to the sprawling finale of "Death And Rebirth," the album pulls you into a hypnotic world of shamanic rites, spiritual descent, and transformation. The blend of slow-burning riffs, ambient textures, and raw black metal intensity creates a soundscape that feels both ancient and otherworldly. Favorite track: The Calling.
    henrikmodular thumbnail
henrikmodular Incredibly atmospheric. Filled with dread and doom. And a remarkably deep album. Awesome and brutal stuff! Favorite track: Chosen By The Spirits.
    asterios79 thumbnail
asterios79 Tradition is a depressive and immersive journey through atmospheric black metal and doom. Harsh, frightening vocals erupt from layers of slow, vocal-less doom passages that create a dark, cinematic mood reminiscent of a horror film soundtrack. Favorite track: The Journey To The Underworld.

The Remaining Few The Remaining Few

    Rabbit thumbnail
Rabbit Much better than the debut because of the added progressive bent that these kinds of songs require to shine. It's disappointing that Wodensthrone broke up after starting to show some real progress and originality but at least they left us with this. Highly recommended for those looking for quality anglo-saxon metal. I'd also recommend checking out Ildra for another good anglo-saxon metal band. Favorite track: Wyrgthu.
    rbk1884 thumbnail
