sunny lush psych-rock ballads with strange, surprising flavours mixed in. as zappa said, "jazz isn't dead, it just smells funny." — psych certainly ain't dead either, not with folks making sounds like this. excellent rhythmic and stylistic choices. great soundscapes. zippy one-liners abound. TURN ON THE SUBTITLES. thanks for taking us to weird-smelling but wonderful places, zoftig Favorite track: Baobab.

turbotoebi This album hits harder than a sledge hammer. The combined elements shouldn't work - and then they do so perfectly. An album of immense intensity and creativity. Favorite track: The Law of Asbestos.

    dickersdone AU TEMPS DES ANARCHITECTURES

'Hostile Architecture' does not feel cathartic to me, but quite the opposite: it is an inner suicide, a muffled and terrified sob that brushes against the concrete like an icy breeze.

It is so subtle that it could easily be missed.

The doomy, atmospheric guitars and the dangerous, fast blast beats contrast beautifully with the sharp orchestral elements. Yet, the production manages to unify everything with unwavering solidity, in a cold, grey, béton armé. Favorite track: Plattenbau Persephone Praxis.
    Roo Vandegrift thumbnail
Roo Vandegrift Wow, this album just won't stop! It might well be my favorite "black metal" (but this is so genre defying that I hate to really put a genre label on it) album of the past decade. The music is incredible, the jazziness and the tension, the performances are virtuosic, the production is stellar, and the vocals are indescribable, like a cross between an impassioned soap-box preacher, and the voice in my own head telling me to fight the injustices of a cruel system. Favorite track: Béton Brut.

highmarx The boys are back and they’re bigger and better than ever. The first album is a classic in its youthful jubilance. This one is a classic in its mature actualization of potential. Favorite track: Tib St. Tabernacle.
    Brobama thumbnail
Brobama WU LYF transcends the auditory experience. Their music is absorbed through every pore. It's pure, powerful and penetrates the soul in ways other music simply cannot. This album will sit in my back-pocket next to their first, eagerly awaiting those special moments in life! Favorite track: Letting Go.
