  2. Blood Chants of Impiety
    by Nephilim's Noose
    supported by
    XUN thumbnail
XUN Absolutely perfect example of Canadian metal. Rough and rotten to the bone. Beware of it! Sounds that fill me with no remorse. Favorite track: Six Winged // Simulacrum.
    Xfn thumbnail
Xfn Raw in the best possible way; bludgeoning thick onslaught with an organic hiss and fizz and foundation-testing rumble and resonance - the riffs and atmospheres, the driving pulse, a seemingly infinite well of uniquely heavy, evolving and malevolent ideas steamroll me - it's as perfect a concoction of blackened death doom as I expect to hear in this life time - instantly hoist aloft - all the moments just hit that perfect feel and intensity.
Favorite track: Six Winged // Simulacrum.

  3. Morbid Despotic Ritual
    by Gosudar
    supported by
    bcb723 thumbnail
bcb723 What else is pretty cool about metal at year end? You find out all kinds of heavy shit that slipped past you during the year. What an amazing debut release from Gosudar. Sick riffs, head-nodding "from the crypt" vocals with drumming to match - this record is a beast and just fucking rips from beginning to end. Thanks to Dante Ruivo for the on point recommendation! Favorite track: Morbid Despotic Ritual.
    DNAcorruption thumbnail

    onorato73 thumbnail
onorato73 I was already a fan of Malignant Altar and bought this to keep them complete in my collection. I had not heard Gosudar from Moscow, Russia. Wow, just wow was I impressed with Gosudar. That’s what make splits fun I guess!!!
    Bronan The Duderian thumbnail
Bronan The Duderian Absolutely killer split by both bands. Love the Gosudar side, and MA went out with a bang with these two tracks. Favorite track: Mortified Transformation.

A Skull Full of Maggots A Skull Full of Maggots

    Dmyth Clements thumbnail
Dmyth Clements One of the best Death Metal album's of the 90's! An absolute classic! Favorite track: Edible Autopsy.
    xtheharvstfloorx thumbnail
xtheharvstfloorx really fun and thrashy death metal with some damn good riffs and grooves throughout, rarely falters throughout the whole record Favorite track: Shredded Humans.
    rvss.eel thumbnail
rvss.eel Eaten Back To Life is one of those albums that sounds like it is clawing its way out of thrash metal and into something heavier and dirtier (spoiler alert: it's death metal). It was a wild period outputting awesome things, but it's coming after the groundbreaking albums that had already made that leap, and it arrives a little rougher. But, while Cannibal Corpse gets immensely better later, there's a lot of good, fun music here, with some great song dynamics. Plus the cover art is still terrific. Favorite track: A Skull Full of Maggots.

    Ghuughra thumbnail
Ghuughra F*ck, Bandcamp! Serpents of the Light on vinyl when!?

Seriously though, this here is my first experience of Deicide. Other albums may have eventually eclipsed it in my estimation, but you never forget your first love. Stacked vocals = stacked bodies.

edit: upon reflection, updated best song from Scars of the Crucifix to Conquered by Sodom. Favorite track: Conquered By Sodom.
    Cadavre_Sombre (Midgard_OBM) thumbnail
Cadavre_Sombre (Midgard_OBM) Fantastic album from Deicide, the vocals variations are great, at the same time hateful and loud with the cavernous voice of Glen Benton, the tracks duration are quite short but really amazing. What more? Vocals from Hell, riffs of hammer, drums of damnation and pure destruction, and the fist in the face of my neighbours.
Tell Ya Fucking Story Walking… thumbnail
Tell Ya Fucking Story Walking… That pitched voice delay is something else I love it.. milk and honey here my friends.
    Such a great a album.
    Fuck the neighbours…
    mattd33 thumbnail
mattd33 Furious, fast & full of hate! Their best album since the debut. Twin vocals, blast beats, awesome guitars & lyrics full of derision and scorn. Excellent! Favorite track: Mad At God.

    Im Winterwald Im Winterwald

    tiernan ^▿^ thumbnail
tiernan ^▿^ Probably one of the only atmospheric black metal bands that top Burzum for me. The keyboards/synths really add to the already chilling experience. Perfect for listening to while walking in the forest (isn't that surprising 😂) Essential Atmospheric Black Metal Record. 8.5/10 Favorite track: Stimmen im Wald.
    nightdreamer68 thumbnail
nightdreamer68 One of the best Atmospheric Black Metal Albums. Incredibly dark atmosphere in every song. Milestone Favorite track: So hallt es wider.
    FreckleBoy thumbnail
FreckleBoy Very short, cute little album about about being in the woods.

There's something about that level of lo-fi-ness in the production that just works here. Too much it's unlistenable, but this is the perfect level. Gives a beautifully anxious, fuzzy and smothering vibe of being lost in a forest while cold as hell and slightly delirious. Favorite track: Im Winterwald.
