neilboulter When I fire up my machine in the morning I often click on music that someone has just purchased as they roll by.
This Thursday turned out to be a winner. This stuff is an amazing amalgamation of styles and genre. If 2026 remains half as good as this, then it'll be a good one. Favorite track: I. Ensamseglaren / Inte Ensam.
    Brent Davis thumbnail
Brent Davis Ensamseglaren is an incredible jazz adventure.

    Highly recommended.

bob3 A masterpiece. Abstract, yet emotional. You could think in moments that you are listening to drone metal, or death metal, and then there is something different....

cutaway No favourite track because they are all brilliant, and irreplaceably themselves ...a great album which I discovered by accident tangentially via a viewing of the film 1976 (the soundtrack to that is also hugely recommended).

    stylusofheld thumbnail
stylusofheld I love the variety of the music on this album. I have mostly listened to tracks 1 and 2, and I love the sheets-of-sound approach Mitchell takes in 1. Track 2 is a varied approach to an extended improvisation that reaches from slow, sparse, often harmonious passages, to rumbling, churning sections more like track 1. The spaces between sections, in track 2, give me time to take in what just came before, and prepare for what comes next; kind of like a slice of raw ginger between bites of sushi!

Badzie Seeking beauty? Some music gives your thoughts wings. This album is a series of sedimentary layers of possibilities, each track a portal to fleeting impressions of parallel, shifting new songverses, never the same on the next listen. Revelatory. Favorite track: Dark Phase II.

    boinky37 thumbnail
boinky37 I love what’s going on here. The compositions are pleasantly dense and textured and this also has served as an introduction to Ailton Krenak’s writings. The cover art also feels very cathartic Favorite track: Ayaba Oxum.
    j_ooparts thumbnail
j_ooparts This album is sublime. I can't stop listening to it. The propulsive rhythms guide you through the layered hypnotic maximalism. Thank you for making this. Favorite track: Oyá Dewo.

SlithyToves Brings to mind some of Anouar Brahem’s work on ecm, and John Surman’s Private City album, in part because of the lovely lyricism of Chet Doxas playing. Ancient and futuristic, a melting pot of cultures and times, subtle electronic texturing and spiritual dreaming.
