  1. GOD 77 - LULL - Tide

versusreality So happy this is available digitally- Mick's Lull project has just been amazing, and gets better with each album. This is excellent from start to finish, a soundscape that you can escape into and forget everything else. For me, Mick's music heals the pain. I've listened to this album multiple times already and it will continue to be in heavy rotation until the next Lull (just like his previous album was and is in heavy rotation still) Favorite track: Lingering.

Bart I can't be the only one thinking they were getting by on fumes and legacy. This is a whirling storm of evil epic metal. Atilla's twisted and ever-changing vocals are highlight on this album. Easily one of my favorite Mayhem albums in their discographies. Favorite track: Weep for Nothing.
    fyeahmetal thumbnail
fyeahmetal This is the most bombastic thing I've heard in a while. The production is like Kubrick's droogs breaking china in a cathedral for 50 minutes straight. The triggered drums get overwhelming at times. But I'm here for it! The devil's music should be loud. And these are heavy, ripping tunes seemingly designed for the stage. They're a perfect dramatic setting for Attila to spew 50 shades of black. Turn this up and turn those crosses down. Favorite track: Weep for Nothing.
    acaDamien thumbnail
acaDamien It's an amazing display of Mayhem. What more can be said? It is REALLY good. Heavy, dark, and even ritualistic. Favorite track: Despair.
    Jono Schneider thumbnail
Jono Schneider Fucking brutal evil spirits tearing through you and searing your soul with frozen fire Favorite track: Weep for Nothing.

    Mitchell Clulow thumbnail
Mitchell Clulow Effortlessly keeps up the trend of Nothing getting better with each release. This is their best - and most emotive - record yet.
    Dylan thumbnail
Dylan This album is really great. It has highs and lows and has such a great flow. Lows in lower energy, not low or boring. Really dynamic and creative. Favorite track: a short history of decay.

gebs After a more direct approach with Origins, Andy is back with the spiritual successor to Guardians. The production is the best it has ever been, plucking you from your seat and whisking you away to the Scottish highlands. Favorite track: Amidst the Ruins.

soulsatzero What an absolute masterpiece of melancholic death/doom! One of Draconian's best releases so far, and a strong contender for AOTY! Stunning performances by all musicians involved, especially Lisa and Anders, combined with a perfect, crystal clear, yet very organic production. Very difficult indeed to pick a favourite track since all of them are great. And now I am going to hit the 'repeat' button ... again. Favorite track: Misanthrope River.
    MormegilGurthang thumbnail
MormegilGurthang A modern masterpiece of melancholic doom, In Somnolent Ruin is Draconian at their very best. Favorite track: Misanthrope River.

Marla It can be squeezed into the ambient/drone frames, but most of all it is beautiful music with perfect compositions and played with great sensitivity. Burdensome darkness and moments to breathe at the right moment. Everything on point. Disturbing, itchy, and almost unbearable, but beautiful. Favorite track: Tu Nel.
