    The Perfect Violation thumbnail
The Perfect Violation Blind-bought the vinyl, which can be risky, but less so when it's from this mad genius. Simply stunning work here.

  3. Perfect Pitch Black
    by Cave In
    supported by
    bspkrs thumbnail
bspkrs This album caught my ear as being more of a return to Cave In's roots in heavier material. Trepanning rips in particular. Favorite track: Trepanning.
    spacestation56 thumbnail
spacestation56 On this record, they merge the hardcore/metal sound with the space rock/shoegaze sound. This is also the expanded edition with tracks that didn't make the cut on what was to be their 2nd RCA album. You could tell a song like "Prognosis" was the next step forward for that. There's even a version of the song with Caleb giving his signature vocals during one segment, sadly you'll have to find that somewhere in the dark corners of the web. Favorite track: Prognosis.

    username1001 thumbnail
username1001 Abundance is the word that comes to mind, with Amplifier you get Quality AND Quantity - and so here - Den of Thieves - a track darker, more melodic, more atmospheric and more epic than many rock bands could ever dream of creating and yet it's not even on Amplifier's main release this year ! Favorite track: Den Of Thieves.
    larethio thumbnail
larethio A collection of some of the best rock songs of this decade. Cosmic walls of sound and trippy vibes throughout. Sublime Mixing/Mastering too! 🎧 Favorite track: Raindrop Parade.

Jason Edwards I've been an avid Oceansize fan for ages. The 2025 remaster is masterful in it's added tracks for this long time listener. I'm a huge fan of The Day after the Duke and Sport Axe. This band never ceases to amaze me. Favorite track: Silent/Transparent.
    Rikard Dotzler thumbnail
Rikard Dotzler A record that defined my youth. Incredible to get even more new songs added to it Favorite track: Build Us A Rocket.
    azyris thumbnail
azyris i still have to find a song as playful, masterfully chaotic, infectious and rhythmically exciting as build us a rocket. But the added songs are amazing as well, particulary to the zoo has a previously unheard facette of oceansize. A new highlight for me is the closer Sport axe with its soaring melody in a brilliant 9/8? With all the melancholy you love the band and mikes songwriting for, it is even better when a optimistic anthem like that hits you out of the blue. DAMN. What an album. GET IT! Favorite track: Sport Axe.

Everyday Balloons I'm pretty sure those aren't the complete lyrics to "Farewell Note" , but it's pretty good nonetheless Favorite track: Farewell Note to this City.
    bspkrs thumbnail
bspkrs While I’m definitely adding this cut of Farewell Note to this City to my funeral playlist, I think Fissures is my favorite track from this album. Thank you so much for continuing to produce great music! I’m really looking forward to more volumes of this! Favorite track: Fissures.
    SomebodyGetaSponge thumbnail
SomebodyGetaSponge Steve Brodsky's transformations of these hardcore tunes are impressive! These are fully reimagined renditions that show off Brodsky's talents as a guitarist and vocalist. The multiple tracked recordings make this record shine and offer much more than just acoustic guitar covers of these cuts. The standouts for me are Lincoln's "Benchwarmer", Into Another's "Two Snowflakes", "Nickel Wound" by TitR, and "Farewell Note to this City" by Converge. Outstanding! Favorite track: Farewell Note to this City.

    Nicholas Kent thumbnail
Nicholas Kent There's no denying that this is a weird collection of songs (but nowhere near as weird as the Elvis Unreleased EP)! When this album first came out it took a bit of adjusting, but there are some fantastic freaking songs on here - tracks 1 to 5, 8, and 11 are all 🤌🤌🤌.

I remember hearing Doomsday, live, on the old pipeline radio show and cosmic erosion from a live show Brodsky did back in ~2005 and it was (and is) so great to get them out on an official album <3. Favorite track: Man of the Mountain.
    Jeff Conner thumbnail
Jeff Conner This album has moments of beatlesque grunginess that genuinely surprised me. Love Mutoid Man, came here curious, but love it separately, on it's own. Favorite track: Man of the Mountain.

    Bart thumbnail
Bart This band has become more extreme with their sound each successive release. I found them interesting, but never really clicked for me until this one. The first track alone gives you an idea of what you're set to experience. Blast beats, then a jax sax interlude, then back to the chaos. Great stuff. Favorite track: Well Made Play.

s1nz Bless the day I discovered this band. Favorite track: Broken Mirror (Feat. Prostitute).

Jeffrey Bridgman It took a few listens, but this is now one of my top Envy albums. I actually like that it's a bit on the short side.

Aside from Imagination and Creation, I really love Beyond the Raindrops. It just hits you with a wall of warm sunlight. Pure magic <3

The contrast between Lingering Light / Lingering Echoes is also super well done and the transition between them is one of my favorite moments from the album. Favorite track: Imagination and Creation.
    Luke thumbnail
Luke Their most tender yet soaring record. The true modern Envy experience.
