On first listen, I got that feeling you get when you’ve been driving through the pitch black desert, finally hearing the bass echoing in the distance, and you make a big turn which may actually just be a cliff, but instead ends at a rave with people going off, lasers beaming between the dunes, and you know you’re in for a wild night.

Ex-Friendly Alongside Part 1, this is an exceptional collection of east European jazz from the Cold War era. The notes from Kevin Le Gendre and the beautiful artwork add another sprinkle of magic to these brilliant releases. Favorite track: Pege Jazz Workshop - Hungarian Folk Song.
