    freejazzy thumbnail
freejazzy Congrats Chicago, experiment accomplished. Couldn't resist the transparency of the production with it's crispy drum and bass foundation and the spacious melodies and harmonies on top of it. Favorite track: The Chant (feat. Joel Ross, Irvin Pierce, Darryl Jones, Marquis Hill, Jeff Parker).
    Kenne Thomas thumbnail
Kenne Thomas True modernism in composition and performance. These pieces evoke the tenor of 21 century jazz in this seemingly eclectic world. With thought provoking arrangements one can easily be energized or calmed. This is definitely an album to be played over and over again.

TL This is criminally underrated. I wish more people would notice their chemistry because it's off the charts. Alfa and Emmavie shine on every track at every second - it's hard to find this quality of work these days but wow, they deserve all the praise for a flawless record.

John Hunter (JJ) Masterful blending of influences. Nate Smith's composition choices are just outstanding. The harmonic work done at 1:35 in UNDEFEATED is my favorite part of a great album. Favorite track: UNDEFEATED (feat. JSWISS, Marquis Hill).
    The Tonearm thumbnail
The Tonearm "[Smith's] unique approach to rhythms and drum execution blends various musical elements, smooth as coffee and cream. … The chops on display are highly diversified, and as for his music, it’s a warm and wonderful combination of all these genres."

    G.E Prince thumbnail
G.E Prince A collective of musicians that connect many different areas of Jazz music. A piece can be injected with venom by the versatile drumming, or soaked up with harmonies galore and fantastic changes. Very soulful, and at times 4HERO (Two pages), sounding. This is a beautifully produced LP, and when things eventually return to normal I will be looking to see them live. Mark de Clive Lowe has pulled off yet another quality project, this time with the help of great Japanese musicians. Favorite track: Lullabies of the Lost.
