    delphine_barbillon thumbnail
delphine_barbillon THIS TRAIN has a very special place in my heart.
I got it from Chrystabell's hands after her gig in Marseille, december 8th 2012 and she dedicated to me.
It is an incredible trip of body and soul both sensual and ethereal, fast and slow, guided by the deep voice of Chrystabell, through the mysteries of the universe.
I have listened to it hundreds of times and it always brings joy and comfort to me.
The vinyle re-issue is a precious gift i was longing for.
I guess i will ride THIS TRAIN forever. Favorite track: Real Love.

gifts given

René John has given 5 gifts.
  1. The Healer
    by SUMAC
    supported by
    Sam thumbnail
Sam Being in the same room as these guys while they play was fucking amazing, so much talent and wonderful noise. I love other projects by each member but this album feels like each's best work, respectfully. Favorite track: Yellow Dawn.
    Urso X thumbnail
Urso X I've spent days listening and trying to come up with a coherent and original review for this stunning album, but I seem to be at a loss for words (a rarity for me). The most cogent thing I can say that hasn't already been said is that SUMAC's musical evolution and sprawling, semi-improvisational style strongly calls to mind a metal version of the critically acclaimed late 8os/early 90s post-rock pioneers Talk Talk. Singular artists, uncompromising vision, every album a masterpiece. Transcendent! Favorite track: Yellow Dawn.
    chandlerhank thumbnail
chandlerhank This album is a 10/10 all the way through, defining the dotted line of experimental. Favorite track: The Stone's Turn.

    by Night Verses
    supported by
    neu-mann thumbnail
neu-mann Heavy mile-a-minute Prog Metal normally isn't my thing, but these guys shred with surprising finesse, showing a healthy appreciation for nuance and melody underneath all the muscle and testosterone. Favorite track: Arrival.
    undead_wanderer thumbnail
undead_wanderer A great follow-up to From the Gallery of Sleep, can't wait for Part Two. Favorite track: Arrival.
    Alice M. thumbnail
Alice M. Frantic proggy post-metal that seems to come from another planet. And this is just part one?!
And a goddamned featuring with Justin Chancellor. What the hell. Favorite track: Bound To You.

    Sam Damon thumbnail
Sam Damon Prog rock-#1 in my top 3 Elder albums after Reflections and Lore, absolutely fantastic! It’s a “loop album” that never gets old over time. I spin it “all the time”. Halcyon and One light retreating are stand outs. A required purchase for the Elder/prog rock fan. FFO, Rush-Tool-Rishloo. Favorite track: Halcyon.

    Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss thumbnail
Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss I endlessly waffle between whether this or Gold/Silver Sessions is Elder at the height of their powers, but it doesn't really matter in the end. Omens is a really really goddamn good album.
