tanuva I got to know Parkway Drive through a recording of their appearance in Wacken. And even though it was a recording, it blew me away. So much energy, so well-paced, and that super-heavy bass guitar in Absolute Power. I luvz it. \m/ Favorite track: Absolute Power.

nyminnoire Like an epic poem made into a heavy metal album. Inspiring and powerful redition of some of the coolest figures and battles of antiquiy to the early modern period. gramoun-kal While most bands get more depth and complexity with time, Sabaton seems to ever get more simplistic. And it started pretty basic too. This album breaks new grounds in the art of being basic.

The history buff in me also laments the fact that any album on the great war needs to at least be a double album. There's just too much to cover. Some of the most epic moments shine by their absence. Favorite track: The Attack of the Dead Men.

Oddball For an album about a long, brutal and dark war, the Great War (the album) is anything but. It's brisk, punchy and heroic. Maybe my favourite since Carolus Rex.
