    Dr S Gemie thumbnail
Dr S Gemie Astonishing. The real sound of old fado: scratchy, melodic, bewailing their sorrow, sounding so happy to be so miserable. Mostly one singer and one or two (?) guitars. A slice of musical history and FREE.

    saori_ne A Sublime Echo of Pre-War Japan

This collection is a masterfully curated tribute to the Ryūkōka era, capturing the delicate intersection of traditional Japanese soul and early Western influence. As a Japanese listener, I am moved by the profound reverence shown to these recordings. The ethereal beauty and sophisticated melancholy of the period resonate with remarkable clarity. Truly an exquisite journey.

    Dumb mmmn thumbnail
Dumb mmmn if you get trapped on a desert island, don't panic - wave your hands around and scream at it, it's supposed to scare it away... or rub tomato juice on it, it gets the odor out. If you can't do any of that then make a list of 8 for the BBC and this might be there

ALL OF MY FRIENDS ARE GOING TO HELL ALL OF MY FRIENDS ARE GOING TO HELL
    supported by
    urethrajuice thumbnail
urethrajuice One of my favorite albums from any artist of all time! Perfect mixture of earnest, beautiful, and bone-crushingly eerie. The howling vocals on top of the out-of-tune, degraded backing tracks really sell it. Favorite track: I KNOW HIS BLOOD CAN MAKE ME WHOLE.
    Meyer zum Mischen thumbnail
Meyer zum Mischen Listening to this album feels like watching a movie to me. It evokes so many different feelings which are often ambivalent and hard to describe in words. Embedded in the hilarious moments of All Of My Friends are going to hell is a lingering darkness. The religious hymns are comforting at the same time. The melancholic songs are juxtaposed with tension-building sound-design choices. This album feels like a very real, pure and honest artistic statement.
    strikedoves7 thumbnail
strikedoves7 Rev. Hayter has allowed me to process my evangelical charismatic christian trauma in a cathartic and exorcising way. Favorite track: THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD.
