lazerock Goat Girl belong in a lineage of British art-school rock that probably starts with Wire, XTC and Talk Talk and takes in groups like Stereolab, Broadcast, Mogwai, probably even Modern Life is Rubbish-era Blur. They're a worthy addition to that tradition of brainy, eccentric musos who play outstanding melodies, if they're in the mood, but are just as likely to throw in an experimental curveball. This LP is patchier than the brilliant On All Fours, but well worthwhile, despite its occasional misses
