Alex Hoffman Great modern cuddlecore! This album is full of fun and biting lyrics with extremely catchy melodies. The band has a very DIY aesthetic while still being extremely polished. Highly recommend if you like Cub, The Muffs or Dressy Bessy. Favorite track: Gofer.

The Count So hard to choose a favorite track from this album. They are all perfect. the st gets the dub because it has a cool solo. Favorite track: Crocodile Moat!!!!!!!.
    fiebertraum_ thumbnail
fiebertraum_ This is my new favorite album! I've bought it this morning, it's running on repeat and it gets even better every fckn time! Favorite track: Stoic Crenellations.
    AnarchoStencilism thumbnail
AnarchoStencilism Armies are slain every song, and castles are conquered by crashing riffs that replicate the image of catapults of which rain down on my enemies.
A far more raw display than Curta'n Wall's album "Siege Obsessed," and with that a more brutal sound that sends peasants cowering and lords readying their infantry. War-metal losers and Bolt Thrower fans are in envy of the feeling of battle created in each and every track of this incredible album. Favorite track: Fear of God.

bassrat420 Four worthy battle marches for the Siege Ubsessed Favorite track: Spellforge.
    albertinnooo thumbnail
albertinnooo Curta'n wall has been one of the best things i've ever discovered, their goofy songs, raw vocals and riffs, and just, medieval vibe of the lyrics is a combination i didn't think i would ever need. 10/10 Best band ever made. Favorite track: Betwixt Shield and Sword.
    Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) thumbnail
Favorite track: Betwixt Shield and Sword.

    J-p3 thumbnail
J-p3 seriously tho, the range on display here is almost too much to process, swinging from raw, intense vulnerability to raucous and snarky self-awareness, all delivered in a folksy, indie pop synthesis that defies easy categorization. effing brilliant TBH Favorite track: Three Words Away.

    Constant Little Ghost thumbnail
Constant Little Ghost Bought this album simply as I'd played "Feud" so many times after hearing Matthew play it live this week. The finest song I've ever heard about boundary fence placement, I just wish I'd told Matthew as much at the merch stall this week, instead of being overly British and moaning about the recent weather. That aside, Mr Whitaker is a gem of a songwriter. Look out for the album from collaborator Alan Keary (shunya), too Favorite track: Feud.
    scowlingmonkey thumbnail
scowlingmonkey What a superb collection of songs. When I need music that is a bit more chilled I put on this thoughtful and insightful album.

That said, they are not 100% mellow. In fact one of my favourites, Feud, has a very grim resolution, and is a fantastic allegory for the world today.

Also, Bones, another of my faves, has a satisfying Morricone feel, with a great galloping western-style pace.

A definite thumbs up from me. This CD is never far from my car stereo. Favorite track: Bones.
    mikespall thumbnail
mikespall Having gone on to bigger things, this 2016 album from Henge frontman Matthew Whittaker is likely to be overlooked by most. Sitting somewhere between both Tim and Jeff Buckley, David Gilmour, Rufus Wainwright, this is a beautiful record. Matthew's songwriting chops are a gift and there are clear parallels with his later output but this is an altogether totally different beast. I hope that one day Matthew puts out some new material in this more reflective and less obtuse vein. Excellent stuff.

weebsheep This album goes into all kinds of emotions. One of my favourite artworks out of all the albums. I can't express how much of a banger song Purple Hearts In Her Eyes is. It really does everything right.
