By balancing technical proficiency with a raw, spiritual intensity, they have crafted an incredibly authentic and ritualistic feeling album. It is a terrifying, layered, and ultimately captivating hymn to the darkness.

DeadNightMoonlight This 3 Banger E.P. is nothing short of beholding the Birth of a World Eater.

Stirring, then emerging out of an Endless Black Pit, spreading colossal wings made of Human Bones & Flesh from those long dead.

Although only a few songs, there's plenty here to keep Neurons Firing & a healthy sense of Dread to be sure!

Stoked to see a full album at some point, or even just another E.P.

positronicping After inducting you into his dark realm with the intro track, Nuno unleashes both diabolical blackened death barrels across this EP. The sound is immense (those drums!!), and because of Conduit's mastery of dynamics, the immensity envelops you. Perfection. Favorite track: Resonance Mantra.

Sean Dissonant blackened metal with a groove. Every song harsh and complex with more sounds to discover even on my fifth listen. Truly exceptional. Thumbs up to Funeral Fog for another excellent album pick rolling into my feed. Favorite track: The Devouring Presence.

Joe Farrell This can be exhausting to listen to. The vocalist has undeniable power and is turned up to eleven 100% of the time. I'd be curious to see what they could do with a more varied approach. Still, a solid album, and I'm on board for wherever they go next.

Justin Wittenmeier Draconian never disappoints. I love all their albums, including the ones without Lisa, but I'm so glad she returned to the fold. Gothic doom is a tried and true formula but it never gets old especially when the old guard keep putting out masterful albums Favorite track: I Gave You Wings.

soulsatzero What an absolute masterpiece of melancholic death/doom! One of Draconian's best releases so far, and a strong contender for AOTY! Stunning performances by all musicians involved, especially Lisa and Anders, combined with a perfect, crystal clear, yet very organic production. Very difficult indeed to pick a favourite track since all of them are great. And now I am going to hit the 'repeat' button ... again. Favorite track: Misanthrope River.

acaDamien This album is dark, feels like a kind of black mass. It is amazing and feels like the walls are pushing in from all sides. Incredible musicianship throughout and interludes that just tighten that tension. Favorite track: Diabolus sit in corde tuo, et in labiis tuis, ut digne et competenter annunties evangelium suum.

rvss.eel It's easy to overlook the name of a black metal band that I've never seen before, but I'm fortunate to have noticed Cernunnus's involvement, resulting in immediate attention. Diabolus, Mecum Semperterne!, will go down as one of the best black metal releases of this year, I have no doubt. All elements are BM purity, so that it becomes the air you breathe while listening. Perfect murkiness, amidst flawless keys, vocals, and eventually guitar riffs create music not new, but old and spectacular. Favorite track: Diabolus sit in corde tuo, et in labiis tuis, ut digne et competenter annunties evangelium suum.
