    Terastios4x4 thumbnail
Terastios4x4 One day i was just browsing music and artists here, and by accident i fell on Castle Rat. I am so thankfull for that mistake! Epic and heavy riffs, and that voice... just like a siren in a haunted place. Easily my favorite album for the first half of 2026! That work as everything you need! Totally recommended! Favorite track: Wolf I.
    Sælzer Bub thumbnail
Sælzer Bub Grab you sword, ride the unicorn and prepare for a this fantasy doom fairytale. Castle Rat is amazing classic heavy metal with doom vibes. What a wild rollercoaster ride! Favorite track: Siren.

edgecrusher86 Epic Metal at its best!
    spacciathemax thumbnail
spacciathemax Ciao a tutti!, this album deserves a pause for some deep reflection. I was already very impressed by their previous work, but here we are at an absolute peak. In my opinion, we’re talking about a 'Masterpiece.' Why? Because it made me relive the same emotions I felt when I was young and had just listened to the legendary Manowar’s 'Into The Glory Ride' for the first time—who, along with Slayer, are my absolute favorite bands. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to listen to great music!" Favorite track: Black Blood.

  3. Existentialismus
    by Abduction
    supported by
    Sonny92 thumbnail
Sonny92 This is a well-produced and written slab of vicious and savage-sounding black metal that makes no pretence to the folky or celtic atmospherics which are often a staple of UK black metal, but which goes for the jugular in full-on attack mode. That doesn't mean the thin and tremolo-heavy sound of true raw black metal, the production is too thick and muscular for that, but it takes a more bludgeoning approach, in the vein of death metal.

  4. EXCOMMUNICATIO / BEENKERVER "mandatvm"split
    by EXCOMMUNICATIO / BEENKERVER
    supported by
    Erzonius thumbnail
Erzonius Amazing split with good production and high quality blackmetal. The last two Beenkerver tracks are probably my favourites :-) Favorite track: Een Kansspel Voor Het Graf (Beenkerver).
    Urso X thumbnail
Urso X An extremely well-paired split that plays like a cohesive album. Having loved the tortured high drama on Kodex Luzifer, I came to this purely for Excommunicatio and was not at all disappointed. Beenkerver, otoh, is a totally new act to me, and their atmospheric contributions here are nothing short of ✨magnificent ✨ Could easily be my split OTY! :)

Thanks for the sale, Vendetta! Favorite track: Faustiaans (Beenkerver).
    bmurator thumbnail
bmurator German / Dutch (B) Black Metal split. Have loved both projects for a while now & was super excited when Yoma 🖤 led me here because I had missed it somehow... :) I don't really have any faves, just many & many more repeats! Thanks Vendetta! Highly recommended!!!
    YomaBarr thumbnail
YomaBarr Both bands in top form. As for Excommunicatio, Kodex Luzifer was great - this is greater. A whole new level. Split of the year?

  5. Draumsýnir eldsins
    by Martröð
    supported by
    Lorenzo thumbnail
Lorenzo Conjured with an intensity and aural density that feels completely suffocating in a most pleasant way, this is a superbly technically complex and detailed release

Swarming maelstroms of frantic drums and serpentine guitars build upon themselves throughout each track and the unhinged vocals push everything further into the darkness realms possible. Together it all coalesces into an overwhelming experience of abyssal indulgence punctuated by an almost propulsive pseudo-orchestral pacing
    𝙑𝙖𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨 thumbnail
𝙑𝙖𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨 Viscerally intense, blackened catharsis, with all the urgency and obscurity of a true dream vision. This shot up in my most played real fast. Phenomenal.
    Alberto Loyd thumbnail
Alberto Loyd THE WAIT IS OVER! Kneel to the chaos and rejoice!
More technical and cinematic than Transmutation of Wounds, we find Martröð in full scale as a black metal aural force to be reckoned with Favorite track: Sköpunin.

    Vigilae Mortuorum Vigilae Mortuorum

    flightoficarus (Metal Trenches) thumbnail
flightoficarus (Metal Trenches) Very impressive black and death metal with tons of atmosphere and comparisons to everything from Oranssi Pazuzu to Schammasch
    www.youtube.com/@MetalTrenches/videos Favorite track: Ars Moriendi.
    𝕸𝖎𝖈𝖍𝖆𝖊𝖑 thumbnail
𝕸𝖎𝖈𝖍𝖆𝖊𝖑 With Tenebrario, Hierophany has managed to capture the special sort of menacing magic that many occult bands strive for but few achieve. By balancing technical proficiency with a raw, spiritual intensity, they have crafted an incredibly authentic and ritualistic feeling album. It is a terrifying, layered, and ultimately captivating hymn to the darkness.

Brent Davis Brief, but brutal disso-death.

It's marvellous stuff! I hope there'll be plenty more.

🖤🤘🇿🇦 Favorite track: Conduit to a Threshold.
    DeadNightMoonlight thumbnail
DeadNightMoonlight This 3 Banger E.P. is nothing short of beholding the Birth of a World Eater.

Stirring, then emerging out of an Endless Black Pit, spreading colossal wings made of Human Bones & Flesh from those long dead.

Although only a few songs, there's plenty here to keep Neurons Firing & a healthy sense of Dread to be sure!

Stoked to see a full album at some point, or even just another E.P.
Conduit runs with the Best of 'Em!

Thanks for serving this one up on a Silver Platter bmurator!!!
    positronicping thumbnail
positronicping After inducting you into his dark realm with the intro track, Nuno unleashes both diabolical blackened death barrels across this EP. The sound is immense (those drums!!), and because of Conduit's mastery of dynamics, the immensity envelops you. Perfection. Favorite track: Resonance Mantra.

    Sean thumbnail
Sean Dissonant blackened metal with a groove. Every song harsh and complex with more sounds to discover even on my fifth listen. Truly exceptional. Thumbs up to Funeral Fog for another excellent album pick rolling into my feed. Favorite track: The Devouring Presence.
    Funeral Fog thumbnail
Funeral Fog The most brutal blackened death metal album of 2026!
    Joe Farrell thumbnail
Joe Farrell This can be exhausting to listen to. The vocalist has undeniable power and is turned up to eleven 100% of the time. I'd be curious to see what they could do with a more varied approach. Still, a solid album, and I'm on board for wherever they go next.

    Justin Wittenmeier thumbnail
Justin Wittenmeier Draconian never disappoints. I love all their albums, including the ones without Lisa, but I'm so glad she returned to the fold. Gothic doom is a tried and true formula but it never gets old especially when the old guard keep putting out masterful albums Favorite track: I Gave You Wings.
    nachthumor_x thumbnail
nachthumor_x Awesome athmospheric dark album Favourite Tracks: "lethe" and "I welcome thy arrow"
    soulsatzero thumbnail
soulsatzero What an absolute masterpiece of melancholic death/doom! One of Draconian's best releases so far, and a strong contender for AOTY! Stunning performances by all musicians involved, especially Lisa and Anders, combined with a perfect, crystal clear, yet very organic production. Very difficult indeed to pick a favourite track since all of them are great. And now I am going to hit the 'repeat' button ... again. Favorite track: Misanthrope River.

    by Diabolus, Mecum Semperterne!
    featured track 00:00/00:00
    Praeludium Praeludium
    supported by
    acaDamien thumbnail
acaDamien This album is dark, feels like a kind of black mass. It is amazing and feels like the walls are pushing in from all sides. Incredible musicianship throughout and interludes that just tighten that tension. Favorite track: Diabolus sit in corde tuo, et in labiis tuis, ut digne et competenter annunties evangelium suum.
    rvss.eel thumbnail
rvss.eel It's easy to overlook the name of a black metal band that I've never seen before, but I'm fortunate to have noticed Cernunnus's involvement, resulting in immediate attention. Diabolus, Mecum Semperterne!, will go down as one of the best black metal releases of this year, I have no doubt. All elements are BM purity, so that it becomes the air you breathe while listening. Perfect murkiness, amidst flawless keys, vocals, and eventually guitar riffs create music not new, but old and spectacular. Favorite track: Diabolus sit in corde tuo, et in labiis tuis, ut digne et competenter annunties evangelium suum.
    YomaBarr thumbnail
YomaBarr Damn you, Terratur! Two must haves on one morning!

Dark, ritualistic, but weirdly easy to listen to. The first step into the initiation.
