  1. The Sad Spirit
    by Ghoëst
    supported by
    nremdreamsofrain thumbnail
nremdreamsofrain formed around a single rhythm of drum, it carries the atmosphere within which surrounds the listener with looming melancholy without any interruptions. great, yet due to single rhythm, it is not memorable. what I remember after listening is the pattern of drum which is very basic im afraid. (loved it nonetheless :^p) Favorite track: The Sad Spirit (Part IV).
    Gilgareth thumbnail
Gilgareth A masterclass in dark, ambient soundscapes, blending elements of Dungeon Synth, Darkwave and Doom with an unmistakable sense of melancholy. The tracks are richly atmospheric and haunting, building layers of dense, immersive textures that pull you into Ghoëst's otherworldly realm. Essential addition to any serious music collection. Favorite track: The Sad Spirit (Part I).
    The Necronaut thumbnail
The Necronaut Dark, atmospheric and haunting. This calls for a journey through the mountains to enrich the moment. Hopefully we'll see a vinyl release someday. Favorite track: The Sad Spirit (Part III).

    by Ghoëst

    sellmeagod thumbnail
sellmeagod pure dungeon synth perfection. slow grimey drums push it forever. Favorite track: In Eternal Sleep (Part I).
    MarsDragoner thumbnail
MarsDragoner Deep-reaching and dense darkness encroaches and extends its tendrils out of every crack of the weathered stone walls. The compositions are very simple but sound extraordinarily oppressive and immersive. Like the seemingly physical weight of fear and distress while walking through the unknown. The slow drums complete the foreboding and funereal aura. Favorite track: In Eternal Sleep (Part I).
    Egg Wizard thumbnail
Egg Wizard Dungeon synth is a major part of my work day shuffle. Whenever a slow, majestic banger of a DS tune comes on, I check it and sure enough, its Ghoest. Highly recommended. Favorite track: In Eternal Sleep (Part I).

  3. The Majestic End
    by Ghoëst
    supported by
    brantly thumbnail
brantly A brooding, charismatic take on dungeon synth that feels both feudal and deeply gothic, with a subtle Byronic storytelling thread running through it. The synths swell and breathe—low-end hums and vibrating drones underpin elegiac, mournful keys. It balances a bleak, sorrowful, and dark nostalgia beautifully, drifting between lamentation and a kind of pensive reverie. A terrific record from one of the genre’s most compelling artists.
    Daniel Daniel thumbnail
Daniel Daniel A Ghoëst meets Circle of Ouroboros collab album would sound incredible. There is this foggy, wintery and coniferous territory that both of them touch on in their own ways and I love it

aferdinandwagner Fantastic, strong, melancholic, cold but emotional music to listen and dance to. I love it. Fits so well to my everlasting darkwave longings born in the 90s. Thank you for this gem !

    Masterpiece 🖤
A powerful, coldwave punch. These haunting synths and sharp, driving beats create a fierce, elegantly dark electronic experience. My dark love one, of the best artist of the genre. Favorite track: Tomorrow is a New Day.
    tofupotpie thumbnail
tofupotpie This album has good continuity in the sound - ambient, dark, but also with a urgency in the underlying (electronic) drum beat. Favorites are RESPECT, Wild Animal, and Unknown. Favorite track: RESPECT.

    Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) thumbnail
    lichdom thumbnail
lichdom I first heard of Ghoëst when the demos started popping up in everyone's end of year lists, and listening to this the hype is 100% justified. This demo is a whole journey: atmospheric, focused and surprisingly hooky in places. Really great stuff.
    oddapple thumbnail
oddapple These demos are all magnificent. Ghoest is probably the best from the genre. These are cold, wet, and dreary. Early 90’s vibes in a vile. A true haunting experience.

    archive.org/details/a-dead-spot-of-light-magazine-number-24

The funeral doom metal on this release might be summed up by the vastness of the music of Earth and the desolation created by Nortt. [...] A dark and haunting piece of music. [...] It is certainly more intriguing than many of the other bands in this genre that I have had to listen to recently.

    Tyme thumbnail
Tyme Had I discovered this album last year upon its release, it would definitely have found a spot on my year end list. The cacophonous harmony Sam and Andrew have created here is brilliantly haunting. I don't think I'll ever listen to Untracing and not get goosebumps. Shout out to TomazP who had this lurking in his wishlist, which is where I found it.
    Favorite track: Untracing.

Bertrand Marchal Oldest Sea won my heart. Out of the many female-fronted dark doomy projects, they do stand out. Its vibrating blurry atmosphere has a deep melancholic tone that carries you in a secluded world, sad and yet comfy and welcoming.

Sean Consecration is the best ear worm I’ve ever had. In fact, I’m silently humming it right now. The whole EP is exceptional. Favorite track: Consecration.
