    captaincreep thumbnail
captaincreep A beautiful album by a beautiful band, Vessels has to be one of my all time favorites due to the ingenious nature of the album's storytelling. I absolutely love the way each song meanders through a story that is picked up and expanded upon by the next, ultimately terminating epically with Smoke of Many Fires. Grasping Light, however, has me by the neck particularly. "There walks a man, there runs his fate" is an unimaginably hard line by any metric. Favorite track: Grasping Light.
    cbotiza thumbnail
cbotiza 'The Smoke of Many Fires' is one of the best songs ever written. Favorite track: The Smoke of Many Fires.

  3. Stone's Reach
    by Be'lakor

captaincreep I cannot possibly choose between my favorite tracks on this album, but my hand's been forced. Aspect is an absolute banger of a song, starting off with high energy and fading into a wonderfully melodic finish. I often begin my day early in the morning with this one. That being said, every single song on this album is an absolute masterpiece, as is every single song from every single album from this band. I wish them good luck for the future, for I selfishly cannot wait for the next release. Favorite track: Aspect.
    bmurator thumbnail
bmurator Australian Melodic Death Metal. Definitely one of their best! I have been following them practically from the start & these guys can do no wrong! I have everything of theirs but I need it on bandcamp too... :) As Kobina already said, I want this on my deathbed too - hell, I want it at my funeral also! Unbelievably good music! FFO Insomnium & Omnium Gatherum & the like. All tracks are perfect but the riff in "Sun's Delusion" is out of this world good 🤘 Cannot recommend this entire album more!!! Favorite track: Sun's Delusion.
    Warangelic thumbnail
Warangelic This album is already GOAT. There is no need to waste words that won't justify its glory. You have to experience it yourself. Favorite track: Outlive the Hand.

  4. The Frail Tide
    by Be'lakor
    supported by
    captaincreep thumbnail
captaincreep This one is an absolute must have for anyone who enjoys melodic metal. There are not very many bands who can, in my particular tastes at least, consistently create albums that have exactly 0 songs worth skipping. I legitimately don't go a single day without listening to this band, they have become the soundtrack of my life to a large degree. Favorite track: Sanguinary.
    starvynth thumbnail
starvynth The track "A Natural Apostasy" is probably the most diverse on the album. It actually has quite a nice build up from the start. Following that is a flowing heavier section and towards the end is an almost folk-like guitar piece coupled with a meaningful and well played flute segment by Megan Sykes. Be'lakor has created an album that will probably never bore you.

    Michael thumbnail
Michael Are you thinking of Rollo? Certainly not Count Oloff. Vikings are adorable for coming up with funny sounding names like Fafner. And maybe Fafner was there before the Vikings, so it wasn't Vikings that made up the name, but I still like the way all these names sound spoken with that Norwegian tongue.
    Skronk thumbnail
Skronk Top heavy album, but what a top! From Fafner’s Gold to Raven’s Flight is an exceptional viking experience. Most excellent. Favorite track: Shield Wall.
    CaptainFog thumbnail
CaptainFog This album hits me the same as “With Oden On Our Side”, which I think is a very under appreciated album. Great storytelling here, as well as some speed to go along with the usual heaviness. Favorite track: Raven's Flight.

    thekurtaction thumbnail
thekurtaction It's a bold move to introduce vocal arrangements of this kind this much into your career as a tech death band. To me, it was the right call. Psycroptic is at their best when they lean into their hypnotic, groovy, and now also melodic tendencies. Favorite track: As The Kingdom Drowns.
    MetalJazzVinyl thumbnail
MetalJazzVinyl Well executed album - technically proficient & hard as fuck. I’ve been enjoying this one since it released - finally bought a copy. Worth it! Favorite track: Directive.
    Jarak thumbnail
Jarak Psycroptic are that extremely rare breed of tech death band where I find their music highly enjoyable – catchy even – instead of thinking it just sounds like a lot of boring wankery. Not only can they play their instruments with technical proficiency, they also know how to write music worth listening to. Favorite track: Directive.
