    magoski Before words
    there is a singular moment
    waiting to be let in
    Behind words
    is a longing
    of
    for
    family

And, In front of the words as they come flying out of the mouth
    like birds
    set free in May
    to Dance around the Pole
    ThIs is
    my release
    my equanimity

I know you are right there
    waiting to join me
    through time
    and space

  2. Lachesis/Clotho/Atropos
by Harmony Rockets with Special Guest Peter Walker

    Gavin Hellyer thumbnail
Gavin Hellyer This is an ocassional Mercury Rev side project featuring 3 interesting extended pieces with fluctuating loud and soft build up passages. Steve Shelley from Sonic Youth and Nels Cline from Wilco contribute as well. The raga type style is no doubt due to Peter Walker's involvement. He was active in the 60s and in fact did production work on Karen Dalton's music. Whilst this record is predominantly instrumental, there does appear to be an ethereal vocal presence during the final track. Favorite track: Lachesis.

Vapatius All of the albums of "The Vampires" are worth listening too and they are all different but "Nightjar" is the very best so far.

Well and go see them live. They are a very good band! Favorite track: Khan Shatyr.
    Michael Santhanam-Martin thumbnail
Michael Santhanam-Martin ARIA award well deserved. Fresh compositions and solos that sing. Favorite track: Khan Shatyr.
    Robert Middleton thumbnail
Robert Middleton This is my fifth Vampires album so far and also my favorite. Leader, Jeremy Rose, augments the sax, trumpet, bass, drums lineup with the subtle piano groove of The Necks Chris Abrahams. Every song is a gem.
    adamenikan thumbnail
adamenikan The album Nightjar by the Australian jazz group the Vampires received the ARIA Music Award for Best Jazz Album in 2023 – and rightfully so. The brass sounds so gentle and swaying, and the piano is like a rainfall of stars. At times (see Khan Shatyr, Ortiara) their music takes on that distinctive dub reggae feel that I love so much, especially on a warm summer night. Favorite track: Ortigara.

ibr Private jazz recordings hype often exceeds the music within the grooves. That is most definitely not the case here. A very, very good record indeed. Favorite track: Waltz For Barbara.
    Ex-Friendly thumbnail
Ex-Friendly Absolute class release on Frederiksberg (again!). How and why this remained so unknown for so long is another of those unfair mysteries but we can all enjoy this beauty now. Bravo Compass and Andreas :) Favorite track: Bonus Track - Rain Dance.
