Favorite track: Yor Zarad.

pinkytheent Very cool!!! A fresh take on the assouf style we all love. Incredible, raw, overdriven guitar tone that practically dripped with flavor - I really want to know both the amp, the speaker, and the recording technique! Great to hear the Mdou support crew branching off and experimenting. Hope to see yinz at Rhizome on Friday!
    dcdirkzwager thumbnail
dcdirkzwager This is just wonderfull! It has that Toeareg vibe, but this time around mixed with more desert rock and indeed some punk vibes. It mixes wonderful and leaves me wanting much more!

    Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) thumbnail
Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) A big thank you to Mariana Ingold for re-releasing this gem! She's obviously reading my mind. OK, OK, it might be just coincidence as well... anyway, this is exactly the album I've been hoping for being offered here next. Leo Maslíah is an exceptional Uruguayan singer-songwriter, pianist, arranger, and writer, who can look back on a long series of albums and writings. His arrangements can be heard on a couple of Mariana Ingold's own songs, e.g. on her brilliant release "Todo depende". On this album, she pays tribute to this iconic artist by performing a selection of his songs. - Music and lyrics by Leo Maslíah, except "Principio de incertidumbre" (Maslíah / Levrero), "Rumores" (Maslíah / Ingold), and "Dónde está tu corazón" (Ingold / Maslíah). Favorite track: Biromes y Servilletas.

sarikat Humble, searching, imbued with abyssal feeling, shorn of ornamentation.

The songs of Quetzalcoatl feel like inner truths asking to be released rather than songs being willed into existence. Both instrumentation and lyrics are spare and simple and threaded with a specific kind of devotion, one that has known the pain of self-transformation. Favorite track: Morning Sun.
    yeehaw90125 thumbnail
yeehaw90125 Dark and gloomy, just like the empty black darkness Dave would've seen himself in before he wrote this album. So crazy to think that all of the events that transpired to make this was all before he would turn 20. Favorite track: Free Indeed.
