Xtra Happy An odd addendum to an """album""" ("Soundtracks for the Blind" will always be a compilation to me, sorry not sorry) that already has an aura and mystique of its own that precedes it (for better or worse).

The german renditions of 'Helpless Child' {'Hilflos Kind'} and 'I See Them All Lined Up' {'Ich sehe die Alle in einer Reihe'} are the main attraction here, but the live acoustic version of 'Mother/Father' and the extended version of 'Surrogate Drone 2' are also worth sticking around for. Favorite track: M/F.

kynicgoblin Quality gothic rock mixed with the eccentricities that make Swans timeless. The inclusion of Drainland is also appreciated, mostly thanks to the track "Blind". Don't miss one of the best rock albums of 90s. Favorite track: I Am The Sun (Live At The Flesh Club).
    momifrewup thumbnail
momifrewup a very unique album for swans and easily their best in this vein of more conventional rock Favorite track: Blood Promise.
    hopestill thumbnail
hopestill I love this album entire but I'm selecting "Blood Promise" as my favorite because it makes me feel particularly insane.

I used to fall asleep to this album and not once did the scream at the end of "Telepathy" wake me up! I feel so at home with this record... Favorite track: Blood Promise.

    The Laughing Stock thumbnail
The Laughing Stock Personally I've always preferred Love of Life over White Light. it's just something about this album's story, lyrics, and instrumentation. all the more better is this being the reissue of this album that includes "No Cure For The Lonely". In my opinion the better album closer than the original "Pt 6" as it's a more devastating, cold, and more emotional end that about makes me cry everytime.

How can I even breathe?... without you... Favorite track: The Sound of Freedom.
    Xtra Happy thumbnail
Xtra Happy Out of this and "White Light [...]", I think I prefer this. Where White Light showcases Swans' classic dark imposition, Love of Life feels more introspective and inward. It still has its heavy hitting moments ('Amnesia' and 'In the Eyes of Nature'), but the focus is much more on the hypnotic, trancing, neo-folk-esque acoustic guitar and piano-driven slow-burners here ('She Cries' and 'God Loves America'). Jarboe and Michael's alternating vocals across the album compliment eachother so well too. Favorite track: God Loves America.
    markkil thumbnail
markkil A highly underrated album (from what I can gather, by both the fans and the band itself). Swans' early career was marked by a strong reaction against the current music trends, and against music in general, yet in Love of Life, I find an effortless post-punk sound. Favorite track: The Other Side of the World.

    chico_chirimoya thumbnail
Favorite track: Power and Sacrifice.
    Felicity_Ethel thumbnail
Felicity_Ethel One of the very few albums I've listened to that i consider perfect. Ceaselessly awe inspiring, almost miraculous in nature. Favorite track: Love Will Save You.
    josh thumbnail
josh Swans dives full force into a neo-folk gothic rock sound, that results in one of the most ethereal and textured records the band had made up to this point in their career. It is simultaneously grand and dreary, a mixture Swans is always known for executing well.
