Obsidian One My introduction to metalcore. Before this album, my CD collection contained only death and black metal. Of course, I was familiar with hardcore — a housemate at the time was in a hardcore band — but I never really got into it. As I Lay Dying, for me, was the bridge between hardcore and death metal. "The Truth of My Perception", probably my favorite on the album, was one of the first metal tracks I attempted to learn on guitar as a beginner. An important album for me. Simard uses technicality like a paintbrush to deftly create a sonic landscape that's gorgeous, colourful and ridiculously rewarding. The melodic intricacy and the compacted mix that @burtbees rightly notes allow the brutality to go down like a glass of *insert your fave drink here*. Favorite track: Like Crushed Violets and Linen.

Jumpyshark Silver utterly blew me away when I heard it and this album delivers intricate, master-crafted guitar and bass, and has a great sense of groove that ensures that the tracks absolutely stick with you. Favorite track: Silver.

lumina56 an emotional rollercoaster of some of the most unique interpretations of ZUN's work featuring a wide arrange of amazing guest vocalists, there's many words to describe this album but it really just speaks for itself so i cannot recommend it enough! Xeebleton While I prefer Show No Mercy, this album is still really good. Faster than SNM, and has that raw sound that SNM has. Just another amazing and very influential Slayer album! Favorite track: Necrophiliac.

SkunkBeatManiac Similary Merciless, old-school Swedish Death Metal from mid 90s that sounds like a pure Thrash Metal with harshed vocals. Also featuring Exhorder-ish edgy guitar tone. It's pretty brutal and uplifting throughout the album.
