Max DeGenova I'm so proud to be from the same city as this dude. Favorite track: Atlantic Black.
    pandr1900 thumbnail
pandr1900 I was brought here after listening to a live performance of Makaya's on you tube. I instantly loved the song Holy Lands so much that I had to see if the album version was the same rendition as the live one. Then I listened to the whole album! Universal Beings is a just a groove... It's a mix of traditional and something new, very nice. Favorite track: Holy Lands (feat. Brandee Younger).
    jez-lysaght thumbnail
jez-lysaght I took far far far too long to buy this album, it is simply fantastic choosing a fav is impossible so blind picked. Favorite track: The Newbies Lift Off (feat. Ashley Henry).

  1. Shiraz
    by Dhafer Youssef
    supported by
    Nickie Harte Kelly thumbnail
Nickie Harte Kelly Beautiful blend of jazz, chamber, and world music, in honour of the composer, singer, and oudist Dhafer Youssef’s wife, Shiraz. As mentioned, he plays oud and sings in his signature style, and is accompanied by piano, trumpet, electric bass, drums, and electric guitar. This is simply gorgeous and everything you expect from this master of music. Favorite track: Rose Fragrance.
    Rudi thumbnail
Rudi The audience at the sold-out bee-flat/Progr in Bern listened in awe to Dhafer Youssef and his band on this October evening; at times, you could hear a pin drop. That voice and that wonderful, spiritual music with its sometimes subtle funky groove from this album and also Street of Minarets is incredible! And Dhafer looked so blissful on stage. Favorite track: The Epistle of Love (Pt. 3).

mw Unlike anything you have heard. I came to hear Chris Potter, greatest sax and bass clarinet player out there. I stayed for Zakir Hussain's spell-binding percussion. And Dave Holland is no slack on bass. Every track is great.

    Andrew Webb thumbnail
Andrew Webb intricate interaction on all levels, timbral, rhythmic, melodic, harmonic (did i miss any? - probably, these are better players than i am a listener). This will provide hours of deep listening. Can't be played as background, it demands attention.
