Favorite track: Contra o Delírio Urbano, um Manipanso.

Lian Gerbino Buenisimo!!! Clarividencia es una belleza! Favorite track: Clarividência em Xara.

carnivaloftrees Beautiful record FULL of incredible ideas. I think Caio refined his sense of song development in subsequent records but this album is outstanding nonetheless. Favorite track: Valhacouto de Lírios.

    Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) thumbnail

carnivaloftrees I think this is where Kaatayra achieved the best "sound". It uses different genres but the melodies and arrangement of them make sure to keep the overall sound in the same range of atmosphere while making sure to dip in darker territories in some sections to create contrasts that don't seem as present in other albums. The metal sections are outstanding and they are accented by the ambience and beautiful artwork to push the atmosphere further and more clearly. Amazing album. Favorite track: Chama, Pólvora e Esperança.

  3. Inpariquipê

    Urso X thumbnail
Urso X Following the *brilliant* História, Inpariquipê feels a bit like the lost middle child in Kaatayra’s stellar discography. Not due to a lack of quality — as always, that’s here in spades — but because it moves at light speed away from traditional black metal conventions toward a more world/folk percussion-based ambience reminiscent of Still Life (Talking)-era Pat Metheny Group. (No kidding!) Anyway, like all of Caio Lemos’s work, this is nothing short of transcendent. Very highly recommended! Favorite track: Ãráiãsaiê.
    Bummer thumbnail
Bummer It's hypnotic, forceful, and even sweet. Scratches the same itch Geryon and Botanist do with a quieter intensity.
    Favorite track: Dundararaiê.
    Treebaum thumbnail
Treebaum Totally floored by how uncompromisingly good this is. Who would have thought that Brazilian folk music and atmospheric black metal could blend into something so cohesively wonderful. Do yourself a profound favor and check this one out.

Urso X As a long time fan of Kaatayra's subsequent album as well as CL's other projects (Vauruvã, Vestígio), I have no good excuse for arriving here so late. I will say that this isn't your traditional bm album (thank the gods); it's more of a folk/world record that's been expertly, lovingly channeled through a black metal aesthetic to almost supernatural effect. This music has the power to transport and heal/transform you if you let it. Absolutely magical! Favorite track: Desnaturação de Si-Mesmo.
    stoneja thumbnail
stoneja Jorge Ben Jor dropped in on the recording session of Roots. During a smoke break behind the studio, Igor Cavalera loaned him a worn copy of Hvis lyset tar oss and confessed that, while all the berimbau and chanting they'd recorded that day was cool, he feared Sepultura was starting to lose their bearings. Back home that night, Ben Jor spun the Burzum record. The sound of rain against his roof blended with the bleak, abrasive, yet oddly hypnotic music, suggesting a bold creative evolution . . .

    pabelle thumbnail
pabelle Every song on this album has an argument for being my favorite piece of music ever written. As a cohesive whole... You haven't truly lived until you've put on a good pair of headphones, turned off the lights, and listened to this front to back.
This album is to music what stars are to the sky.
I love this album beyond words. Favorite track: Desnaturação de Si-Mesmo.
