mineralskypuzzle There's something so deeply life affirming and beautiful about this record. It just hits the core of my soul so hard. Favorite track: Hanalei (Alone With The Real Magic Dragon).
    Sammy J.D thumbnail
Sammy J.D Absolutely gorgeous and soothing to the very core. This kind of music radiates with loveliness and makes me warm and fuzzy to the core Favorite track: Unshaken (Positively Implacable).

Harold N’Hiver L’Acephale is a band with formidable abilities and powers. I’ve obsessed over this band for years, and after hearing just about everything they’ve released, I am convinced that they could do anything - any style of music, any type of art - and do it well, perhaps as well or better than anyone. They could record an album of Madonna covers, or hell, an album of original pop songs, and they would positively crush it. Their work transcends mere music - and indeed, even the very idea of music. Favorite track: Winternacht.
    Christøph Trvm thumbnail
Christøph Trvm I'm madly in love with this album since it came out. One of the most underrated and overlooked albums in the last years. Incredibly good songwriting meets stellar performance and an original eerie atmosphere.
Clearly a must! Favorite track: Runenberg.
    XUL//EXCELSI thumbnail
XUL//EXCELSI Op die eerste luister deur het ek teen Runenberg al L’Acéphale op fisiese formaat bestel, met die wete dat die res van die album die soort katarsis sal lewer wat my permanent veranderd sal laat. Ek was nie teleurgesteld nie.

Eens-in-‘n-dekade, trane-in-die-oë, kopverloor black metal waarvoor die allerhoogste rakke nog gebou moet word. --L.D Favorite track: Runenberg.
    zhmcd thumbnail
zhmcd Probably my favorite metal track in years. Reminds me of when I first heard Enslaved - Below The Lights, with electronic squeals and trills walking in the background of an utter banger. Anything based on Bataille is a positive, also. Beautiful vinyl package. Favorite track: Runenberg.

Sam I wish for eternal autumn
    HaroldAllnut thumbnail
HaroldAllnut The blasts at the end of the title track are an overwhelming barrage, and the shoegaze-y parts of “Pale Ghosts” swell with incredible emotion. Favorite track: Pale Ghosts.
    Harold N’Hiver thumbnail
Harold N’Hiver The music of Panopticon holds a special space in my memories, in my heart and soul. Each album occupies a particular place in the fabric of my being. These places don’t have names - they have feelings, feelings that don’t have accompanying words to describe them.

The closest I can come with words, for Autumn Eternal, is “standing atop the mountain, the cold wind blowing across my face as the tears fall into the stream that flows down and nourishes the forest.”

So much more than just music.

maxlphillips This feels like being forced to listen to the album of the year through a thin, muffling film. The compositional beauty is consistently and pervasively mind-blowing – never letting go of my ever-pleased attention – but the recording quality almost castrates it. Despite that, I came out of this thoroughly harrowed; unrelentingly pummelled with gorgeousness to the point of complete cleansing and reinvigoration. Favorite track: Ghost Eyes in the Fire Light.

Aimfri I'm not crying, you're crying! Favorite track: A Culture of Wilderness.

armadalider I do adore the style Svrm creates his own lyrics, as well as the new rebirth he inhaled to the lyrics of Ukrainian poetry beginning of XX Century. There is so much resonance between the events of that past epoch and the nowadays because of Russian war in Ukraine and all those grief and despair for the lost lives and homes.
The album indeed, is a masterpiece. Favorite track: Останнє світло.

jubyteacher In February of 2025, I stumbled across the album "Horse Girl Energy," by a band called New Primals, on discogs. The little 30 sec. clips it lets you listen to were enough for me to put the album in my cart. I was sad to discover the band was defunct, but I was so impressed with the incredible guitar work that I had to track down the guitarist-and that led me to this amazing trio. I have been telling everyone I know about how great this record is. Wishing y'all nothing but success from Kansas. Favorite track: Fly Fly.
    endlessjake thumbnail
endlessjake This album blows my mind. Part Q and not U, part Atari Teenage Riot, and something entirely their own. Best live band in Seattle right now. Favorite track: Fly Fly.
