    by Castle Rat
    supported by
    arris_isoltan thumbnail
arris_isoltan A super-charged onslaught of heavy metal fury. The drums pounding with the waves against the rocks. The riffs drifting with the wind in the splash of the ocean spray. Frazetta's Sea Witch comes to life.
    swampppy thumbnail
swampppy I’ve been a Sabbath fan for years, Came across Castle Rat and I’ve been hooked since, Riley and the lads are something else…. This record is no different…. Absolute banger ❤️❤️

    by Castle Rat
    supported by
    Christian thumbnail
Christian I absolutely love this album. One of the best modern doom metal albums in recent memory. Excellent vocal work, great droning guitars, and an awesome fantasy backdrop to boot. Very reminiscent of the Sword but with more haunting vocals. Favorite track: CRYSTAL CAVE.
    Sprenzee thumbnail
Sprenzee Castle Rat makes me want Golden Axe to be my true reality. Favorite track: WIZARD.
    Sun. Disappear thumbnail
Sun. Disappear Castle Rat are absolutely killing it.

They’ve put in the time and paid an absolute fuck ton of dues.

I’ve seen them being disparaged in the Doom community over some misconceived lack of “riffs”. 🙄

Castle Rat are arguably 10x more Metal than 80% of whatever else that happens to pass as “metal” these days.

    🤘🏼 Favorite track: SUN SONG.

    porcelainheart- thumbnail
porcelainheart- Perfect entry-level trad heavy metal. This genre never clicked with me no matter who I listened to. Iron Maiden, Atlantean Kodex, you name it. I had just begun warming to Khemmis, and this might have just made me a fan. If you're like me and most traditional heavy metal does nothing for you, listen to this. You won't regret it. An epic journey, front to back. Favorite track: A Face in the Glare.

indraft unapologetic, loud, and just what we need. THIS is how you heal a tortured heart. Favorite track: Beg.
    mikhel thumbnail
mikhel Dynamic music with fantastic lyrics sung with such power
    MUZieve thumbnail
MUZieve There’s still that balance between soft-anxious moments and sudden explosions. But the anxiety feels gentler now, and the explosions have lost some of their force. Letter to Self was an instant coup de foudre: I immediately felt the urge to listen to the whole thing through, over and over. All this over has tracks that might take more time to grow on me, or maybe they won’t. Time will tell. Favorite track: Need.

conrad raven Jane is the best! Favorite track: Rabbit Stew.
    yougotmegotmegotme thumbnail
yougotmegotmegotme I follow Jane on Twitter, and dig her music. Found out today that she made a new album with her new band, and upon checking it out, it sounded very good and different, just like Jane's music has always stood out to me. Rabbit Stew is very good, and I generally like the neat sounds and lyrics to this album. An easy buy for me, no doubt. Good stuff. Stop, Drop & Swallow speaks about times today, and the Next Night is spooky good. The videos are also very cool! Favorite track: Rabbit Stew.
    steveinsocal thumbnail
steveinsocal "...If you think Jane Wiedlin's "Fur" is a bit of a lost 80's classic, then this album is for you. Guitars and synths jostle for supremacy as wave after wave of timeless power-pop tunes work their way up from your toes before embedding themselves deep into your conscious..."

ryan stratton I bought a couple tapes from Aural Canyon and they were nice enough to throw in a bonus tape as well, which is also great. Very nice stuff, I like all of it. I will keep an eye on these guys.
    mysticwolf75 thumbnail
mysticwolf75 I live in Upstate NY, near ponds, and the time of Spring (April-May) when these sounds were recorded is my favorite time of year! Especially during the bleak months of late Fall and Winter, this will give me something to look forward to. 🙂 (So this does in fact sound like "Spring at home" to me).

    Jobst M. Feit thumbnail
Jobst M. Feit Catchy synthesizer-driven pop songs and gnarly, noisy lofi rock music are two of my musical passions and i rarely – or never – find bands that deliver both things at the the same. Enter AUA – a perfect blend of beautiful, melancholic, gritty and adventurous music that keeps me coming back to repeat listens even after months. If you can imagine Zoot Woman making a collaborative record with Unwound and Broadcast this would be it. 10/10. Favorite track: Painkiller No. 1.
    flo thumbnail
flo AUA take us deep into a labyrinth of synth-kraut, new wave, and avant-garde. The atmosphere grows darker, the songs pulse hypnotically, and a sense of melancholy permeates the journey—and I love it. The introspective lyrics serve as our guide through this immersive experience. For me their best songs to date. Favorite track: Terminal.
