Carsten Pieper Fascinating Senegalese-Swedish project. As the "Collectif" suggests, many musicians are involved. The foundation of the album had been recorded in Senegal under pandemic circumstances, overdubs have been added in Sweden and Senegal. A real cross-cultural endeavour ! Favorite track: Le Repaire Spirituel.

𝕋𝕨𝕚𝕤𝕥𝕖𝕕𝕤𝕠𝕦𝕝 This album's music will enrich your mind as much as it will move your feet. Another wonderful project from Wau Wau Collectif that ranks exceptionally high on our list of the year's best albums. Favorite track: Xale (Toubab Dialaw Kids Rhyme).

I found this album reviewed in Songlines #216 and as a lover of the Oud I had to listen to it straight away...this is such beautiful music, and delighted it's available to buy physically too. Would love to hear this in a live setting. Thank you, Saied, for such stunning music.
    Doomy thumbnail
Doomy I gave one of the CDs to a Palestinian friend, and he started to sing along straight away! Favorite track: Waslah (Instrumental).

Alexandre Maybe not what you’d expect from a "self-taught post-punk experimentalist", but incredibly well-crafted. By far one of the best things I've listen in 2025. Tbh I'm a bit awed.
    Marc Laidlaw thumbnail
Marc Laidlaw Extremely beautiful and, just as important, strange.
