I love this album a lot! Makaya McCraven must be your brother. The album feels both intimate and spacious, like late-night jazz filtered through dub, hip-hop, and electronic minimalism.
Favorite track: Phantom Jazz.

Really great album!! At many different points I found myself thinking "wow this moment is perfect, this is my favorite." As soon as it ended, I wanted to go back again!
Favorite track: When The Sleeper Wakes.

Martyn’s album return on his own 3024 imprint is a masterclass in spatial awareness, trading the club's weight for a breathtaking exploration of rhythmic precision and jazz-fueled textures.

En écoutant cet album, les sonorités riches se gravent dans votre tête, tel un ver d'oreille, que vous ne désirez pas oublier. Sensationnel!

a fun and light little bundle of songs. quite varied in style but still tied together with a consistent soft vocal style. my favourite is the title track but have enjoyed my time with each song individually at points, hard to pick one
Favorite track: Uh Oh.

I saw this on TOTP when I was 14. Coming from a white working class family I had no other exposure to this great music. However, I'd long forgotten this until recently. So a huge thanks to Steve McQueen and his brilliant Small Axe season of films, and, of course, thankyou Janet, for the sublime beauty of this song xx.

I've been a fan of Kutoi for years, so it's great to have this in my collection. Everyone owes themselves a listen to this great artist.
Favorite track: Gentleman (edit).

I came across Jad Abumrad‘s ‘Fela Kuti: Fear No Man podcast series, and before started listening, I just instinctively decided to check if there was anything Fela new on Bandcamp. So much about Fela and his music fascinates me, so this is a welcome compilation indeed.
Favorite track: Shuffering And Shmiling (part 2).

My understanding is that Fela Kuti created Afrobeat; my experience is that he does it best. This is the largest quanity of booty-shaking jazz/funk/afrobeat/political rhythms you can get for your dollar. Give it to anyone who doesn't know what Afrobeat is and change their lives.
Favorite track: Zombie.

Fela saw a dimension of existence that few others could see; he was like Einstein, Tesla or Michelangelo, but Fela's realm was sound. And he worked that realm into something we all could experience. And Tony Allen's rhythmic architecture holds it all together. Masters, both.
