  1. Beonfîrn [Split EP]
    by Gilgareth
    supported by
    Kris Faust thumbnail
Kris Faust Nowadays it's difficult to find good synth-driven instrumental music that's simultaneously epic and mystical, and that doesn't devolve into boring, generic soundscapes. Gilgareth scratches that itch nicely. It's a genuinely captivating listening.
    Sigurður Nansen thumbnail
Sigurður Nansen A brilliant idea for a split release! More of a joint creation than simply a shared EP, this is a musical exploration of a medieval village’s twofold nature, shifting between the sunlit hours and the dark of night. And none are more suited to reveal its radiant side than the two troubadours called Gilgareth, wielding their gloriously pristine synths along the way! Favorite track: Von Licht und Schatten.
    Paramyx thumbnail
Paramyx kurz vor jahresende, man denkt schon, alles wäre vorbei, spucken gilgareth noch einmal feracinor-eske flammen. atmosphärisch, tanzbar, rund, wundervoll. favourite track: nebelmoor. Favorite track: Nebelmoor.

    Balðr thumbnail
Balðr I’ve spun this EP a few times now and I can already tell it’ll stay in rotation for a while. Gilgareth are working out something that’s already been lurking in their earlier work: a sound that’s thick with gloom and doom, crushingly heavy and yet strangely hypnotic. Then, out of nowhere, it bursts into demonic, frantic speed, a clear nod to the genre’s Black Metal lineage. A truly dark and catching EP. Favorite track: Schwarze Lande.
    𝕽𝖔𝖓𝖓𝖎𝖊 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕳𝖔𝖗𝖓𝖊𝖉 thumbnail
𝕽𝖔𝖓𝖓𝖎𝖊 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕳𝖔𝖗𝖓𝖊𝖉 The atmosphere created by the heavy reverb-drenched bass rhythms and the cold echoing notes is highly mystical and profoundly occult. The shifts from Dark Dungeon Doom sounds to those briefly more akin to Black Metal result in a successful whole. Favorite track: Schwarze Lande.
    Guillaume P. Trépanier thumbnail
Guillaume P. Trépanier Once again, Gilgareth explores the different facets of dungeon synth and blows our minds. The first track is especially well-made : deep and atmospheric synth bass, somber and delicate tones and moody drums. The second black metal alike track is unique in a strange and beautiful way. That new EP is fantastic! Favorite track: Schwarze Lande.

  4. Sotteklugt
    by Shagor
    supported by
    Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) thumbnail
Favorite track: Respijt.

H.L. SHAGOR's current album, "Lyksalver," is one of my absolute highlights of 2025, I simply had to add its predecessor, "Sotteklugt," to my collection. The enormous potential was definitely evident five years earlier in songs like "Nachtdwaler." However, especially in terms of its underground sound, it can't quite keep up with the current masterpiece, and the songs don't quite grab me as intensely or sustainably. Still, a good addition for all fans of unpolished melodic black metal. Favorite track: Nachtdwaler.
    acaDamien thumbnail
acaDamien I love that this is raw and powerful yet atmospheric as well. I got into them with their most recent album and I really had to get more. Favorite track: Nachtdwaler.

H.L. NACHTHEEM shred their version of atmospheric, unpolished black metal from the speakers with great intensity and without much frills. Black metal was just as dark and hypnotic in the early days with Burzum and Darkthrone, and NACHTHEEM transports this mood well into the present day. Aside from the purely ambient track, which never really clicks with me, the epic album is very thrilling, dynamic, and atmospheric. Favorite track: Drift van Nostalgie.

macka dub Wow! I have the first Noda & Wolfers album together still on heavy rotation, and now there is a second one pushing the sound foreward into acid-sounds! Just perfect! This could possible be my favourite 2024 release 😍
Take your time but don‘t stop there! Curious what you guys come up next with :)) Favorite track: アシッド・ホール・テンプル Temple of Acid Hall.

trollfi3nd Impeccable cosmic atmospheric goodness. If Blood Incantation were to just become this from here on out I wouldn't be mad.

Pull up your big boy pants, put any pre-existing expectations aside and just bathe in the warmth. This is just as impactful as their death metal releases, and every bit as important.
