thekurtaction Outstanding album. Continues A Valediction's direction musically. Unusual production but it actually works for this material. Favorite track: A Sonication.

David Fischer An artist's creations should always be measured against the standards they have set themselves. Obscura's standards are high, having released some of the finest technical death metal in history. And in comparison, A Sonication falls short – at least soundwise. The production is washed, muffled, horrible. Musically, I highly enjoy this album, but I cannot help myself but imagine how much better it would sound with the production of e.g. Diluvium, and that is a pity. Great bass, riffs and drums! Favorite track: A Sonication.

Piper Haqim Obscura has found the invisible line between melodeath and tech death and are dancing on it with every album now. They’ve decked some of the melody on this album but you can still hear it peek up from time to time. Ultimately this album is on a whole, a logical step since A Valediction. Favorite track: Stardust.
