badgerworld OOIOO + Gamelan instruments. What's not to like? Yeah, it's utterly bizarre and will probably alienate you on your office music chat (unless your colleagues also like unusual music), but if you didn't really enjoy that, you wouldn't be looking at OOIOO. It's absolutely brilliant, as always. Favorite track: Gamel Ulda.

sisujoel If I ever make it to Yemen, this is the music I imagine hearing on the radio.

I had the good fortune to see and hear El Khat at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis, MN. Their groove is such a great mix of Arabic based vibes with touches of World influences I totally dig. Favorite track: Ptiha - مفاتحة.
    Lavinie Cloutier thumbnail
Lavinie Cloutier Encore d'autres musiques du monde intéressantes. Je viens de passer à travers 7 jours de festival de film à Rouyn-Noranda. J'en ai vu de plusieurs pays.

vlaci Tough to pick one favourite track, the whole album is superb!
They gave an absolutely astonishing performance on Malomfesztivál in Orom Serbia back before the great pandemic in 2019. I have them in my heart since then. Had the pleasure to meet them and hang with the guys. Hope to see them once again live. Favorite track: Balagh Al Achbaab - بلغ الاحباب.

Der Ohlsen "If you’re a long-term fan of one or more of the participating groups or of modern acid rock in general, you won’t need much convincing to add this gem to your collection. But even if you’re completely unfamiliar with this whole scene, yet interested in dipping your toes into the wide world of spaced-out guitar music, I would highly recommend this idealized ISS homage as a gateway experience to the genre."

    Mushroom Head thumbnail
Mushroom Head Nice set that's really starting to grow on me. The Kanaan contribution is especially beautiful, a sprawling cut of the progier side of psych that floats you out into the stars. Favorite track: Kanaan - Beyond (longer digital version!).
    AntEater thumbnail
AntEater Awesome album for sitting back and emptying your mind of everything. Ultra-relaxing and interesting at the same time. I sincerely hope there's a vol. 2 (and more). Favorite track: Kungens Män - Keeper Of The One Key.

    Tom Colquhoun thumbnail
Tom Colquhoun Mdou Moctar is the wildchild of Tuareg rock, whipping up a perpetual storm of electric noise that centres the guitar more than ever as the voice of urgency. This album has soul, character and dynamics, but is defined throughout by the vitality and fury of Moctar's guitar. Favorite track: Afrique Victime.
    pinkytheent thumbnail
pinkytheent Very happy a colleague recommended Mdou Moctar to me after I discovered & fell in love with Tinariwen and this new (to me) desert blues sound! Mdou Moctar inject more of a psychedelic sensibility into their music rather than Tinariwen's drone, making it flavorfully distinctive, while still carrying that shining, twanging, sun-drenched sound we all love about Saharan desert rock. Love the grooving rhythms and the alternately snappy clean or drowned-in-effects guitar melodies. Excellent work! Favorite track: Afrique Victime.
